Job Purpose:

Daily Job Activities:
Checking all the consumables and non consumables daily.
OT Carbolising
Assessing Cases
Receiving the baby(giving newborn care from the time of extraction)
Recording Patients case files after surgery
Sending medicine needs to Pharmacy for all patients
Indending Pharmacy consumables, receiving it physically to maintain the OT Stocks.
Creating Baby ID and admission of the baby
During the procedures Staff Nurses used to assist surgeon, anaesthetist and Paediatricians.
Supervising the housekeeping staff by making sure that the OT is cleaned well before making arrangements for the next case.
Arranging the OT’s after the surgeries
Washing Instruments used for the surgery and arranging the sets and giving for autoclaving
Receiving the Scrub suites and folding it according to sizes and replacing it.
Folding gauzes, ribbon gauzes and cotton balls(which are necessary for surgery) and for all wards and sending the same for sterilization.
Maintain daily registers like OT main register, D & C register and tubectomy register




Confirm the patient admission for the posted cases for that day and communicate with other departments for the needful.
Taking care of the post operative cases in recovery room if patient needs intensive 1:1 care till she stabilizes and is admitted to the ward.
Oversee the process of segregation in the OT.
Practice proper infection control in the unit.
Fumigation to be done for alternate days & routine fumigation to be done every half an hour.

Weekly Job Activities:
Carbolisation needs to be done on weekly basis, to scrub the OT and fumigation to be done to all OT’s and adjoined departments.
Getting Cultures of fumigated departments for testing by culturing for growth (of culture)
To attend Inservice Education Classes every week in the Aerobic room for all staff nurses.
To check and fill Formaline tablets in all chambers for the laproscopic instrument box and the sterile water in the humidifier.

Job Activities Monthly:
Monthly reports and records to be maintained, should be checked and submitted to In charge.
To check all consumables and non consumables in the absence of the In charge.Role & responsibilities
