Network Automation and Service Engineer | ISP Scale - Remote (AEST Overlap) #3130

The Mission

Networks don't run themselves — not yet. Your mission is to change that: build the software that automates the business processes behind network operations, so the humans on the team can stop babysitting repetitive work and focus on what actually needs a brain. You'll be building across internal tools, wholesale systems, and customer-facing web and mobile apps, all pointed at the same goal — faster, more reliable service delivery.

The Role

You'll sit at the intersection of software engineering and network automation, shipping real solutions end to end.

- API & Solution Development: Build end-to-end solutions and APIs used across multiple channels, using current best practices and contemporary tooling.
- Process Automation: Automate the business processes that eat up internal staff time, so they can focus on higher-priority work.
- Distributed Systems: Develop distributed systems and manage containerized applications in production.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with stakeholders across the full software development lifecycle, including code reviews.
- Clean Engineering: Write maintainable code while tackling genuinely interesting performance and architecture problems.

The Must-Haves

- Based offshore with a 4-6 hour overlap with AEST.
- 5+ years building production-grade applications in Golang, with solid working knowledge of the Golang toolchain.
- Experience with containerized solutions, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Postgres, external event buses, caches, OpenAPI, and OpenTelemetry, including visualizing metrics, logs, and traces.
- Familiarity with core networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TACACS, RADIUS), Cisco IOS-XR configuration, and IAM integrations.

The Bonus Skills

- Direct experience in telecom or network-heavy environments.
- Exposure to wholesale or carrier-grade service delivery systems.
- Experience building internal tooling used by non-engineering stakeholders.

Personal Traits

- Automation-First: You default to automating a repeated task rather than doing it by hand again.
- Network-Fluent: You're as comfortable talking DNS and TACACS as you are talking Go and Kubernetes.
- Cross-Functional: You work well with stakeholders who aren't engineers and can translate between the two worlds.
- Detail-Oriented: You care about clean, maintainable code even when the problem in front of you is messy.
