Perform dimensional and visual inspections on hot forgings to verify conformity with specifications and part prints
- Conduct first article inspections for the Forge Shop and ensure all parts match setup files.
- Adjust temperature measurement systems and input set points for each job using equipment like the Ircon temperature measurement system.
- Perform hardness evaluations and magnetic particle inspections as required, maintaining inspection equipment.
- Tag nonconforming parts, complete reports, and record findings from production runs on hot inspection reports.
- Interpret measurement data to determine if parts are in statistical control and fill out scrap tickets as needed.
- Communicate with supervisors and press operators regarding any nonconforming parts or conditions that may affect quality.
