A Poultry Hatchery Operator manages the daily production, sanitation, and equipment within a poultry hatchery to ensure optimal, disease-free hatching conditions. They are responsible for egg handling (receiving, cleaning, turning, candling), monitoring incubator environments (temperature, humidity), feeding/vaccinating young animals, and maintaining strict bio-security protocols.
- Egg Management: Move fertile eggs from storage to setter units and eventually to hatchers. This includes grading eggs for shell soundness and quality.
- Production & Incubation Monitoring: Monitor and set incubators/setter, Manage automated systems to maintain precise temperature, humidity, and airflow.
- Chick Processing: Once hatched, chicks are graded, sexed (separated by male/female), and vaccinated ensure high welfare standards before they are dispatch to brooding.
- Sanitation & Biosecurity: Clean and disinfect, and fumigate all equipment, including trays, setters and work areas to meet strict biosecurity standards.
- Detailed Record Keeping: Track crucial metrics such as hatchability rates, egg intake,



and daily mortality to optimize production performance.
- Compliance: Adhere to government regulations and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of, or ability to learn, incubation processes and equipment operation.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, work in warm/loud environments. Requires adherence to strict, often wet or enclosed, bio-secure environments.
- Attention to Detail: High alertness to identify temperature shift in an incubator, ensuring high-quality output.
- Proactive Attitude: Ability to work early morning, weekends or long hours alone, and manage time effectively to meet production schedules.
- Communication: Ability to work in a team and follow detailed, documented instructions.
