Position: Manager – Group Inventory Control
Reports to: Nakul Bagla, CEO
Location: Head office, Safderjung Encalve New Delhi
Travel: 35 to 40 km for Daily office, also travling covering plants in India, Indonesia and Paraguay
Speciality- Candidate who has already corrected an inventory system across multiple countries.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Bagla Group operates seven factories across three countries and uses Zoho Books for inventory accounting. Physical stock at the plants does not currently match the quantities and values recorded in Zoho Books. This role owns the accuracy of group inventory records, covering both quantity and valuation.
The role is responsible for correcting the records and for changing how plants record material movement so that the difference does not return. This is not a stores or warehouse operations position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reconciliation and monthly closing
- Reconcile physical stock against Zoho Books for every plant, every month,
and report the difference by item category and by plant.
- Investigate each material difference and identify the specific transaction or process that caused it.
- Complete inventory closing within an agreed number of days after month end.
Valuation
- Verify the valuation method applied to raw material, work in progress, finished goods and scrap, and confirm it is applied consistently across all entities.
- Check landed cost, freight and duty allocation on imported raw material.
- Report the value of slow-moving and non-moving stock every quarter.
Plant process and control
- Define written procedures for goods receipt, material issue, production booking, rework, scrap and stock transfer between plants.
- Set a cycle-count calendar for each plant and audit the counts.
- Train plant stores and accounts staff on the recording standards, and report non-compliance directly to the CEO.
Systems
- Correct and maintain item masters, units of measure, conversion factors and warehouse structures in Zoho Books.
- Reduce manual entry by using Zoho Books features and integrations wherever possible.
Reporting
- Publish one monthly group inventory report: closing quantity, closing value, difference against physical stock, ageing, and actions taken.
DELIVERABLES IN THE FIRST 90 DAYS
- A written diagnosis stating where the difference comes from at each plant,
separating recording errors at plant level from configuration errors in Zoho Books.
- A corrected opening stock position for each plant, agreed with the plant head and with finance.
- A written procedure manual for material movement, approved by the CEO.
QUALIFICATION
B.Com or M.Com with CMA (Inter or Final) or CA (Inter). Candidates without the costing qualification will be considered if they have robust practical experience in manufacturing inventory.
EXPERIENCE
- 5 to 8 years in inventory accounting, costing or stock audit inside a manufacturing company. Plastics, packaging, films, chemicals or any continuous-process industry is preferred.
- Direct working experience with Zoho Books or Zoho Inventory. SAP, Oracle or Tally is acceptable if the candidate has migrated or corrected an inventory system.
- Proven experience of finding and fixing a stock difference problem, not only maintaining monthly records. The candidate should be able to describe one such case in detail during the interview.
- Experience of physical verification and cycle counting at factory sites.
- Experience working with multiple locations or multiple legal entities.
SKILLS
- Advanced Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
- Ability to explain a number in simple language to a plant supervisor who is not an accountant.
- Willingness to travel to factory sites and to spend time in the stores area, not only in the office.
- English fluency required. Bahasa Indonesia or Spanish is an advantage, not a requirement.
NOT SUITABLE
- Candidates whose experience is limited to bookkeeping or accounts payable.
- Candidates from trading or service companies with no factory exposure.
- Candidates unwilling to travel.
