About the Role

We are looking for a Malayalam Fact Checker to join our editorial team and create accurate, well-researched fact-check articles for our website.

The role involves identifying misleading or false claims circulating online, researching the facts using credible sources, verifying visual and textual information, and writing clear, reader-friendly fact checks in Malayalam.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the Malayalam language and digital culture, be comfortable researching information online, and have a sharp eye for misinformation, manipulated content, and misleading narratives.

Key Responsibilities

- Research and write original fact-check articles in Malayalam for the website.
- Follow the organisation's editorial, sourcing, attribution, and fact-checking guidelines.
- Ensure every factual assertion in an article is adequately supported by reliable evidence.
- Coordinate with editors and other members of the fact-checking team to improve accuracy and quality.
- Meet publishing deadlines while maintaining high editorial standards.

What We're Looking For

- Excellent written Malayalam with strong grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- 4-5 years of experience in journalism, fact-checking, digital media, content writing, research, or a similar role.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to distinguish between credible evidence, opinion, speculation, and misinformation.




- Familiarity with social media platforms and the way misinformation spreads online.
- Ability to work independently and investigate a claim from multiple angles.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Comfortable working with tight editorial deadlines.

Good to Have

- Experience working with a fact-checking organisation.
- Familiarity with fact-checking methodologies and editorial standards.
- Experience using tools such as Google Lens, reverse-image search, archive tools, geolocation tools, and basic OSINT techniques.
- Knowledge of Malayalam media and the regional information ecosystem.
- Understanding of current affairs, politics, technology, health, science, and social issues.
- Basic knowledge of SEO and digital publishing.
- Experience writing headlines, social media copy, or explainers.

What You'll Be Doing You will be expected to go beyond simply stating whether something is true or false. The goal is to show readers how we know what is true, using transparent evidence and credible sources.
