: Lecturer – Physics
Employment Type: Full-Time (Permanent/Contractual as applicable)
Job Purpose To deliver quality education in Physics, build strong theoretical and analytical foundations in students, and contribute to the academic, research, and laboratory development of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Instruction
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions on subjects such as Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electromagnetism, Optics, Modern Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Electronics, and Waves & Oscillations
- Prepare lesson plans, course outlines, and instructional materials aligned with curriculum requirements
- Conduct practical/lab classes, demonstrate experiments, and ensure proper use of lab equipment
- Use teaching aids, simulations, and e-learning platforms to explain complex concepts effectively
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and conduct internal assessments, assignments, quizzes, and examinations
- Evaluate practical work, lab records, and project reports fairly and promptly
- Maintain accurate academic records and student performance data
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve
Student Mentorship
- Guide students on academic matters, career paths, and higher studies/research opportunities
- Supervise student projects, science exhibitions, and research assignments
- Encourage participation in science fairs, quizzes, and technical events
- Act as mentor/counselor for assigned student groups
Curriculum & Academic Development
- Contribute to curriculum design, review, and updates based on current scientific developments
- Stay updated with emerging research and technologies in physics and integrate them into teaching
- Participate in Board of Studies meetings and academic committees
- Develop question banks, e-content, and study materials
Administrative & Institutional Duties
- Maintain lab safety standards and equipment/inventory records
- Attend faculty meetings, workshops, and training programs
- Support departmental activities, accreditation processes (NAAC/NBA), and audits
- Perform invigilation and examination-related duties
- Coordinate guest lectures, workshops, and educational trips
Research & Career development (if applicable)
- Publish research papers in journals/conferences
- Guide student research projects
- Pursue continuous professional development (certifications, FDPs, workshops)
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Physics or specialized discipline

- Strong conceptual knowledge of core and applied physics
- Proficiency in lab equipment handling and experimental techniques
- Basic knowledge of simulation tools (MATLAB, Python for physics modeling) is an advantage
- Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills
- Analytical thinking, patience, and adaptability
- Good interpersonal skills for student mentoring
Experience

- 2–5+ years of teaching/research experience for Senior Lecturer roles
