Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Lead WordPress Developer.

The Lead

WordPress Developer will architect, develop, and maintain complex WordPress websites and web applications, ensuring performance, security, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities include leading the technical design of WordPress themes and plugins, customizing existing solutions, and integrating APIs and third-party services. The role involves reviewing code, mentoring developers, defining best practices, and collaborating closely with designers, product owners,



and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

The Lead

WordPress Developer will also oversee deployment workflows, optimize site speed and SEO, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and standards.

Qualifications

- Strong WordPress development skills, including custom theme and plugin development, WordPress hooks, and template hierarchy.
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and up-to-date front-end frameworks or libraries (e.g., React, Vue) as relevant.
- Experience with MySQL or other relational databases, query optimization, and data modeling for WordPress-based applications.
- Knowledge of performance optimization, caching mechanisms, SEO best practices, and responsive, cross-browser UI implementation.
- Hands-on experience with Git or similar version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
- Familiarity with hosting environments, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and server configuration for WordPress deployments.
- Understanding of web security principles, secure coding practices, and mitigation of common vulnerabilities (e.g., XSS, CSRF, SQL injection).
- Demonstrated ability to lead development projects, mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and enforce coding standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills, with attention to detail and a focus on reliability and maintainability.
