About Your Role

We are hiring a Lead – Operations to work directly with the CEO – India as his second in command on the day-to-day running of the India teams.

In plain terms, this is the person who stays on top of everything. If Finance says a client agreement is not yet on the portal, you are the one who already has that task in Asana, knows it is stuck because nobody sent the final signed copy, has chased the person who has it, and can tell leadership in one line where it stands. Nothing sits with you and goes quiet, and nobody has to remind you of anything.

You will work across teams: product and technology, finance, client delivery, and our US-based leadership and partners. Most of your day is getting things moved by people who do not report to you, so you need to be easy to work with and able to build rapport with anyone.

We are looking for someone from an Indian IT services delivery background, where work is finished on the client's deadline and not on the team's convenience. If a deliverable is due on Friday for a US client, it goes out on Friday. You should be comfortable with that way of working and able to build it in the teams around you.

This is also an AI-native role. Occams is building itself as an AI-native company: everyone is a builder, work gets recorded so it can be automated, and people write clear specs that AI tools and developers turn into working software. You should already work this way.

You use AI tools every day, you can run tasks in Claude Code or a similar tool, and you can write a spec clearly enough that an agent or a developer can build from it. You do not need to be an engineer. You need to be the person who shows the team what AI-native work looks like.

Our own CRM and ERP platforms are among the main products this role will run, so you need a working knowledge of CRM and ERP software: how it gets built, configured, and rolled out.

You will report to the CEO – India. The role is based in Delhi or Dehradun. Over time, it grows into running operations for the India business.

Key Responsibilities

Running operations

- Own the operational tracker. Every open item across the India teams sits in Asana with an owner, a blocker if there is one, a next step, and a date. You keep it current every day. Nothing that matters lives in an Excel file or a WhatsApp thread.
- Follow up and close loops. You chase, you remember why things are stuck, and you get them unstuck. Forwarding a file to someone else does not count as done.
- Be the single point of status. Leadership should be able to ask you about any open item and get a clear answer without checking anywhere else.
- Run meetings that end in actions. Set the agenda, capture decisions and owners, and put them in Asana the same day.
- Keep the process paperwork honest. Write and maintain SOPs for the work you run, and check that they are actually being followed.

Running projects

- Own scope and requirements. Turn what leadership and clients ask for into a written scope with acceptance criteria before work starts.
- Plan and schedule. Build the plan backwards from the committed date, with milestones, dependencies, and who does what. Spot slippage early and pull in help before the date is at risk, not after.
- Manage the team's time. Know who is on what, see overload coming, and move work around before dates slip.
- Manage risks and issues. Keep a live risk list, escalate early, and never let a known risk turn into a surprise.
- Control change. When scope changes, say what it does to the date and the effort, in writing, before anyone agrees to it.
- Run quality and acceptance testing. Define what done means, run acceptance testing with the business users, and sign off before release.
- Coordinate releases. Plan go-lives with the technology team and the business, with communication and a rollback plan ready.
- Manage vendors. Own the relationship with outside developers, IT vendors, and SaaS providers: contracts, service levels, and chasing them the way you chase everyone else.
- Report to stakeholders. Weekly written status, a monthly review with leadership, and a clear presentation whenever a decision is needed.
- Track the numbers that matter. On-time delivery, age of open items, defects after release. Use them to improve, not just to report.

Working AI-native

- Use AI in your own work every day. Claude Code, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar, for drafting, analysis, automation, and building small tools.
- Write specs that AI and developers can build from. Keep what is wanted separate from how it gets built.
- Automate the repeated work. Reporting, status updates, data checks. If a task is done the same way twice, ask whether an agent can do it.
- Record the work. Decisions, processes, and outcomes get written down so they can be automated later.
- Redo workflows when a better way appears.

Be willing to throw out how something is done every few months if AI now does it better.
- Help the team adopt it. Show people how, set the example, and call it out when spreadsheets, chat threads, or memory are being used where a system should be.

Supporting the CEO – India

- Work as his second in command. Prepare updates, take on tasks delegated to you, and make sure nothing agreed in a leadership conversation gets lost.
- Present like a consultant. When a decision is needed, put the problem, the options, and your recommendation in front of leadership or a client, clearly and in a form they can act on.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education:

- Bachelor's degree, engineering or similar preferred. PMP, PRINCE2, or a Master's degree is good to have but not required.

Experience:

- 5 to 8 years in project or delivery management at an Indian IT services or software company, with at least 2 years running client deliveries against fixed deadlines.
- At least one stint at a large, well-organized company, where process, documentation, and delivery discipline were taken seriously. We want you to have seen how it is done properly, and then be able to do it yourself in a 100-person firm without a large support team behind you.
- Part of a team that built, customized, or rolled out a CRM or ERP product (for example Salesforce, Zoho, Dynamics, SAP, Odoo, or a home-grown platform). You know what a CRM or ERP implementation actually involves.
- Worked with US-based clients, or handled a US team, and are comfortable on US calls and US working hours.

Essential technical skills:

- Asana, Jira, or similar as the single source of truth. You prefer a system over spreadsheets, and you keep it clean.
- AI tools in daily use. You can run tasks in Claude Code or a similar tool, and you know what to hand to AI and what to keep for yourself.
- Presentation skills at the level of an EY or McKinsey consultant. You can put a problem, the options, and a recommendation in front of leadership or a client, and take the questions.
- Clear written and spoken English, comfortable on calls with US stakeholders.
- A track record of closing things out. In interviews we will ask for specific examples.
- Basic understanding of software delivery. You do not need to code, but you need to understand what the technology team is telling you.

Preferred Skills:

- PMP, PRINCE2, or a Master's degree.
- Hands-on ERP or CRM operations work, not only project work.
- Built automations with tools like Zapier, Make, or n8n.
- Experience in a professional services or advisory firm.

Advantages & Perks

- Health Insurance for you and your dependents including parents
- Provident Fund
- 3 % Fixed CTC Budget for Learning Opportunities
- Market Leading Leave Policy
- Paid Holidays per Calendar Year
- Employee Recognition & Rewards
- One of the best cultures of benevolent meritocracy
