Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior Orthopaedic Surgeon based at LLM Hospital in Kottayam.

The Junior Orthopaedic

Surgeon will assist senior orthopaedic surgeons in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and operating theatre procedures, including preoperative assessment and postoperative management. Day-to-day responsibilities include evaluating patients with musculoskeletal conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, participating in surgeries, and contributing to treatment plans under appropriate supervision. The role also involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accurate medical records, following hospital protocols and clinical guidelines, and participating in quality improvement and continuing medical education activities.



The surgeon is expected to provide patient-centered care, support emergency orthopaedic services, and contribute to teaching and mentoring of junior clinical staff where applicable.

Qualifications

- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and completed orthopaedic residency or equivalent training, with valid medical registration and license to practice.
- Foundational clinical skills in orthopaedic examination, diagnosis, and management of common musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.
- Basic to intermediate operative skills, including assistance in elective and emergency orthopaedic surgeries, with knowledge of sterile techniques and perioperative care.
- Robust skills in clinical documentation, use of hospital information systems, and adherence to evidence-based protocols and patient safety standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, and patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize clinical tasks, handle on-call responsibilities, and function reliably in a high-volume hospital environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development, openness to supervision and feedback, and willingness to participate in clinical teaching and case discussions.
- Desirable: Experience in a multispecialty or mission hospital setting, familiarity with emergency and trauma care, and proficiency in local languages in addition to English.
