Key Responsibilities

A. Import Logistics & Customs

- Manage end-to-end import logistics for electronics and other imported materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, CHAs/customs brokers, ports and ICDs.
- Optimize freight modes, routing, container utilization, consolidation and shipment planning.
- Ensure timely customs clearance and minimise demurrage, detention and other avoidable charges.
- Have solid working knowledge of Indian customs procedures, Customs Act/rules, exemption/concession notifications, duty structures, import documentation and customs compliance.
- Identify and effectively utilise applicable customs duty exemptions,

concessional notifications, schemes and Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

benefits, wherever available.

- Work with Procurement and Finance to optimise landed cost of imported materials.

B. Domestic & Outbound Logistics

- Manage movement of materials between manufacturing plants, warehouses and project/customer locations.
- Develop an efficient logistics network from manufacturing facilities to all distribution points, projects, DISCOMs and external customers.
- Optimise routes, vehicle utilisation, load consolidation and transportation costs.
- Ensure timely and accurate dispatch and delivery of finished smart meters and project material.
- Monitor logistics performance, transit losses/damages and service levels.

C. Warehousing & Stores

- Lead operations of plant stores,



finished-goods warehouses, regional/project warehouses and 3PL warehouses.
- Standardise warehouse and stores processes across locations.
- Ensure proper receipt, storage, preservation, traceability, picking, dispatch and inventory accounting.
- Improve warehouse space utilisation and productivity.
- Ensure high inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical verification.
- Drive reduction of slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete and excess inventory.
- Strengthen controls over project inventory and inventory lying at external/3PL warehouses.

D. 3PL & Vendor Management

- Identify, evaluate and manage transporters, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouse operators and 3PL partners.
- Negotiate commercial terms, rates, SLAs and performance-linked contracts.
- Benchmark market rates and continuously improve vendor performance.
- Ensure appropriate controls for inventory losses, damages, insurance and claims.

E. Logistics Cost Optimisation

- Drive measurable reduction in overall logistics and warehousing costs.
- Analyse logistics costs by plant, route, customer/project and product.
- Optimise freight, warehouse rentals, handling, demurrage/detention and transportation costs.
- Evaluate alternate ports, ICDs, routes, warehouses and transportation modes.
- Periodically review and rationalise the Company logistics and warehousing network.
