About the Opportunity

HummingBird is hiring a Java Web Developer on behalf of its client, a leading technology organization based in Bangalore.

We are looking for an experienced Java Web Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, web technologies, REST APIs, database development, and up-to-date software-engineering practices.

The successful candidate will collaborate with software engineers, architects, product managers, QA teams, and DevOps professionals to build secure, scalable, and high-performing applications.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications using Java.
- Develop clean, scalable, reusable, and maintainable code following established coding standards.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Develop web applications using Java-based frameworks and modern frontend technologies.
- Translate business and technical requirements into robust software solutions.
- Design and implement scalable application components and services.
- Integrate applications with databases, third-party APIs,



and enterprise systems.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and production issues.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software quality and engineering best practices.
- Work closely with QA teams to identify and resolve defects.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Participate in technical design and architecture discussions.
- Maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, and development processes.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and release activities.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6–10 years of professional software-development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and object-oriented programming.
- Strong experience with Spring, Spring Boot, or equivalent Java frameworks.
- Experience developing web applications and REST APIs.
- Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and contemporary web-development concepts.
- Strong experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle,



or similar.
- Experience with Git and modern source-control practices.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with unit and integration testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience with several of the following will be an advantage:

- Java: Java 8/11/17/21 or later.
- Frameworks: Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Hibernate/JPA.
- Web Technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript.
- Frontend: React, Angular, or similar frameworks.
- APIs: REST, JSON, SOAP, microservices.
- Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB.
- Cloud: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD.
- Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
- Testing: JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, or equivalent.
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
