Role Description The International Rice Trader is a full-time, on-site position based in Ahmedabad. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end rice trading activities, including sourcing from domestic and international suppliers, negotiating contracts, and executing export and import transactions.

The trader will analyze global rice market trends, monitor price movements, and develop trading strategies that optimize margins while managing risk. Daily responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with buyers, suppliers, brokers, and logistics partners; coordinating shipments and documentation; and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.



The role also involves collaborating with internal teams such as finance, logistics, and risk management to support timely execution of trades and accurate reporting of positions and profitability.

Qualifications

- Strong commodity trading skills, including market analysis, price discovery, and risk assessment related to rice and other agri products.
- Experience in international trade operations, encompassing export/import documentation, incoterms, logistics coordination, and regulatory compliance.
- Negotiation and relationship management skills to engage effectively with suppliers, buyers, brokers, and service providers across different geographies.
- Analytical and numerical skills, with proficiency in using spreadsheets, trading or ERP platforms, and reporting tools for positions, P&L;, and market data.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of additional regional or international languages is an advantage.
- Understanding of global rice markets, supply chains, quality parameters, and key exporting/importing regions.
- Ability to work on-site in Ahmedabad and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams under time-sensitive trading conditions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field; prior experience in agri commodities trading or food grains export is preferred.
- High ethical standards, integrity in commercial dealings, and a commitment to regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
