Reporting To: Head of Engineering / Project Director
We are looking for an experienced Head / Senior Manager – Mechanical Engineering & Turnkey Projects to establish and lead our mechanical engineering function. This is a senior technical leadership role for a mechanical engineering professional who can go beyond CAD and design execution and take ownership of the complete mechanical engineering lifecycle: Customer Requirement → Concept → Design → Engineering → Costing → BOM → Manufacturing/Fabrication → Assembly → FAT → Installation → Commissioning Support The successful candidate will also play a key role in building and developing Vedant Technologies’ mechanical engineering team as our turnkey business expands.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical Engineering Leadership: Establish and lead the mechanical engineering function; set design standards, documentation systems and reusable engineering practices; review designs and ensure quality, manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
Turnkey Project Ownership: Own the mechanical scope from RFQ and customer requirements through concept, layout, design, engineering, costing, BOM, fabrication, assembly, FAT, installation and commissioning support.
Automation & Automotive Execution: Lead or support projects involving automotive/BIW automation, robotic cells, fixtures, SPMs, assembly and inspection systems, material handling, conveyors and turnkey automation.
Design & Technical Review: Guide and review machine design, assemblies, manufacturing/fabrication drawings, jigs and fixtures, machine structures, conveyors, pneumatic/hydraulic mechanisms, servo and linear motion systems, grippers, guarding and safety provisions.
Estimation & Cost Control:
Prepare mechanical estimates for engineering hours, materials, fabrication, machining, bought-outs, mechanisms, assembly and installation; monitor actual costs, rework, design changes, outsourcing and project margins.
Sales & Proposal Support: Support RFQ review, technical feasibility, concept development, scope definition, assumptions, BOQ, man-hour estimation, vendor estimates, technical proposals, risk identification and customer discussions.
Vendor & Manufacturing Coordination: Coordinate with SCM and manufacturing partners for fabrication, machining, laser cutting, bending, welding, surface treatment, bought-out components and assembly; monitor capability, quality, cost, delivery and inspection.
Customer & Cross-Functional Coordination: Interact with customer engineering, project, plant, manufacturing, automation and procurement teams; coordinate with Electrical & Automation, Sales/BD, SCM, Project Management and Finance.
Team Building & Management: Recruit, train, mentor and manage mechanical engineers, designers, project engineers and trainees; allocate work, manage performance, develop skills, plan resources and support succession planning.
Project Delivery & Improvement: Ensure timely mechanical scope delivery, FAT readiness and commissioning support; improve drawing/BOM accuracy, engineering productivity and design quality; reduce delays, rework and cost overruns.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, machine design,
automation machinery or turnkey project execution. Strong mechanical machine design experience. Automation equipment / machinery experience. SPM / Special Machinery experience. Fixtures / Tooling experience. 3D CAD and manufacturing drawing experience. Engineering estimation and costing. Vendor / fabrication coordination. Turnkey project execution. Team leadership experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in: Automotive OEM projects / BIW / Body Shop / Robotic Automation / Assembly Lines / Inspection Systems / Material Handling / Machine Building / System Integration / Turnkey Automation.
Experience working with automotive OEMs / Tier-1 organizations will be an advantage.
ENGINEERING SOFTWARE & KNOWLEDGE
Robust working knowledge of one or more: SolidWorks | Autodesk Inventor | AutoCAD | Creo / Pro-E Experience with 3D modelling, assemblies and manufacturing drawings is essential. Knowledge of: GD&T;, Tolerance Stack-up, DFM / DFA, Material Selection, Manufacturing Processes will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹125,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
