An ICU / FLOOR Head Nurse in a Kerala hospital manages the daily clinical and administrative operations of the Intensive Care Unit to ensure secure, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Unit Supervision: Assign shift duties, oversee nursing staff, and manage patient flow, admissions, and discharges in the ICU.
- Clinical Oversight: Monitor critical patient care, ensure adherence to advanced life support protocols (ACLS/BLS), and accompany physicians on rounds.
- Quality & Compliance: Maintain strict compliance with hospital infection control standards, accreditation norms (such as NABH), and safety protocols.
- Staff Development: Conduct orientation, train junior nurses on critical care equipment handling, and evaluate staff performance.
- Inventory Management: Oversee the stocking of emergency drugs, medical solutions, and specialized ICU equipment.
Qualifications Required in Kerala
- Education: B.Sc. Nursing, Post B.Sc. Nursing, or M.Sc. Nursing (General Nursing and Midwifery—GNM—is also accepted by many private hospital groups).
- Registration: Valid registration with the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of total clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years working specifically as an ICU staff nurse or in a supervisory critical care role.
- Certifications: Mandatory or preferred certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹55,693.38 per month
