We build intelligent geospatial analytics that fuse satellite remote sensing with ground and subsurface sensor data, using AI/ML as the core intelligence layer — turning raw signal into forecasts, risk scores, and actionable insight. Our work spans water resource management, agriculture, mining, and infrastructure — sectors where understanding what's happening beneath and across the surface has real operational and safety stakes. We're based in Bhopal.
We are looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist / Hydrogeophysicist / Groundwater Scientist to lead the scientific development of a next-generation groundwater intelligence platform focused on answering a critical question:
Can we move beyond mapping where groundwater may exist to scientifically predicting where a borewell is most likely to succeed, at what depth, and under what geological and hydrogeological conditions?
Key Responsibilities• Lead the scientific architecture of Terrafusion's Groundwater Intelligence platform
- Develop methodologies for groundwater potential, recharge, storage, depletion and availability assessment
- Integrate satellite datasets including Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Landsat, DEM, rainfall, ET, soil moisture and GRACE/GRACE-FO
- Work with AI/ML teams to develop groundwater prospectivity and forecasting models
- Design methodologies for AI-assisted borewell siting
- Integrate VES, 2D ERT, 3D ERT, TEM/TDEM and borehole data with EO and hydrogeological models
- Develop scientifically robust methods for predicting borewell location, drilling depth, aquifer target and expected yield class
- Lead development of an Aquifer Digital Twin integrating groundwater levels, recharge, extraction, geology, geophysics and IoT monitoring
- Establish field validation and ground-truthing protocols for AI models
- Work closely with AI/ML, remote sensing, GIS, software and field teams
- Provide technical leadership for government, institutional and commercial groundwater projects
What we're looking forEssential:
- Master's / PhD in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geophysics, Hydrology, Earth Sciences, Remote Sensing & GIS, Water Resources or related discipline
- 10+ years of relevant experience in groundwater / aquifer assessment, exploration or modelling
- Strong understanding of aquifer systems, groundwater flow, recharge and groundwater exploration
- Practical understanding of groundwater geophysics, particularly VES / ERT / TEM
- Strong experience with GIS and spatial analysis
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams involving AI/ML and remote sensing
Highly PreferredExperience in one or more of:
NRSC | IIRS | CSIR-NGRI | CGWB | ISRO ecosystem | IITs/IISc | State Groundwater Departments | Major Hydrogeological Consultancies | International Water/Research Organisations
Experience with MODFLOW / FEFLOW / groundwater modelling, remote sensing-based groundwater assessment, AI/ML applications in hydrology or large-scale aquifer mapping will be a solid advantage.
