Job Title: General Manager – Human Resources (GM–HR)

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Managing Director / CEO / Director

Job Purpose The General Manager – HR is responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s overall HR strategy, ensuring effective manpower planning, talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations. The role acts as a strategic HR partner to management while ensuring a productive, engaged, and high-performing workforce.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement HR policies, systems, procedures, and practices aligned with business objectives.
- Prepare annual manpower plans, HR budgets, and workforce strategies.
- Lead recruitment and selection for managerial, supervisory, and critical positions.
- Oversee onboarding, induction, transfers, promotions, and employee movements.
- Establish and monitor performance management and appraisal systems.
- Develop training, learning, leadership development, and succession-planning programs.
- Manage compensation, salary structures, incentives, benefits, and payroll coordination.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory requirements, and company policies.
- Handle employee relations, grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace conflicts.
- Develop employee engagement, retention, welfare, and organizational culture initiatives.
- Maintain HR records, MIS, HR dashboards, and management reports.
- Advise senior management on HR strategy, organizational structure, manpower costs, and employee-related matters.
- Support organizational restructuring, change management, and business expansion initiatives.
- Identify high-potential employees and implement career development and succession plans.




- Ensure effective HR processes through HRMS/HR technology and data-driven decision-making.
- Coordinate with legal, finance, administration, and other departments on employee-related matters.
- Promote a secure, respectful, inclusive, and professional workplace culture.

Educational Qualification

- Master’s degree/MBA in Human Resources, Personnel Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline.
- Professional HR certifications are an added advantage.

Experience

- Typically 16 –25 years of progressive HR experience, with substantial experience in a senior HR management role.
- Experience in managing HR teams and working directly with senior management.
- Strong experience in employee relations, labour-law compliance, recruitment, performance management, compensation, and organizational development.
