TL;DR: Renting in India is still run through phone calls, WhatsApp, fragmented broker networks and a lot of human memory. We think AI changes the operating model completely.

Homeie is building the consumer company for where you live. The first product is the smartest way to rent a home in India. You tell Homeie what matters once, and it understands your taste, searches and coordinates across a fragmented offline market, helps you see only the homes actually worth considering, gets the transaction done, learns from it, and continuously improves based on how humans choose in the real world. What takes weeks today should eventually feel like one really good afternoon.

Longer term, renting is only where we enter the relationship. We think there is a large consumer company to be built at the intersection of AI, fintech and the physical world, one that follows someone across homes, understands their housing history, makes every move easier than the previous one, and eventually helps them buy their first home.

We’ve raised $750k from a stealth fund, whose backers include Abstract Ventures, Bain Capital and Long Journey. We are still a very small team, which means the people joining now will have an absurd amount of influence over what Homeie becomes.

What will you do:

You’ll be one of the first engineers at Homeie, and you will build large parts of the product from first principles. Some problems will look like normal consumer product work. Others will involve voice agents, multimodal models, retrieval, ranking, messy entity resolution, workflow orchestration or figuring out how to reliably automate something currently happening across ten phone calls.

- The renter product end to end. Build the experience through which somebody tells Homeie what they want, gets understood properly, receives a shortlist worth seeing, coordinates visits and eventually closes a home.
- The intelligence layer underneath it. Turn WhatsApp messages, calls, voice notes, listings, photos, videos,



broker conversations and field data into structured knowledge that Homeie can assess deeply and reason over.
- Agents that operate in the real world. Build systems that can source information, follow up, ask the right missing questions, coordinate schedules, keep track of state and eventually complete increasing amounts of the rental journey without a human driving every step.
- Matching and ranking. A renter rarely knows how to express everything they care about upfront, and a home cannot be reduced to ten filters. We want to understand preferences, trade-offs and feedback well enough to decide what somebody should actually spend their Saturday seeing.
- Memory and market state. Availability changes constantly, the same home appears through multiple brokers, information conflicts, and much of what matters becomes stale quickly. You’ll help build the systems that decide what Homeie knows, how confident it is, and when something needs to be checked again.
- The engineering culture. You’ll help decide how we build, what we care about, where we move quickly, where reliability matters more than speed, and what bar every engineer after you inherits.

Who we're looking for:

- I don’t care much about pedigree. You could have spent the last two years at a great engineering or AI company, be a 21-year-old who has been building things since school, have tried starting something yourself, or come from somewhere completely different.
- I care much more about whether you are very technically strong, unusually curious, move quickly and have good product taste.
- You should be comfortable going deep when something breaks instead of treating infrastructure, backend or data problems as somebody else’s job. You do not need our exact stack, but you should be the kind of engineer who can enter an unfamiliar part of the system and become useful quickly.
- You should also be genuinely interested in what is becoming possible with AI models. If a recent voice model, reasoning model or agent primitive comes out, your instinct should be to try it against a real Homeie problem rather than just read about it on Twitter.
