Role Description The Communications and Public Relations Lead is a full-time, hybrid role based in Chennai, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the time. This role is responsible for developing and implementing communication and PR strategies that promote Eco Society India’s mission, programs, and impact. Day-to-day tasks include drafting press releases, media briefs, newsletters, website content, and social media updates, as well as maintaining consistent messaging across all channels.
The Lead will build and manage relationships with media outlets, partners, and community stakeholders, coordinate events and campaigns, and oversee brand visibility and reputation.
The role also includes monitoring communication metrics, preparing reports, and collaborating closely with program teams to highlight project outcomes, success stories, and research findings.
Qualifications
- Solid skills in written and verbal communication, including the ability to craft clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Experience in public relations and media outreach, including developing press materials, handling media queries, and managing crisis communication when needed.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools such as social media platforms, websites, email campaigns, and basic content management systems.
- Ability to plan and execute communication strategies and campaigns aligned with organizational goals and thematic areas.
- Experience organizing or supporting events such as workshops, seminars, conferences, and community outreach programs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate with communities, partners, donors, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental issues, sustainability, or social impact; familiarity with ecosystem restoration and community development is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field; a relevant postgraduate qualification is an added benefit.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
- Comfort working in a hybrid setup, with regular presence at the Chennai office and field sites
