ABOUT DOWNTOWN COFFEE

Downtown Coffee is a contemporary neighbourhood café in Baner, Pune, created around good coffee, great breakfast, fresh food and easy everyday hospitality.

Our menu brings together speciality coffee, breakfast favourites and an all-day café selection designed for guests who want to start their morning with us, work over coffee, meet friends or simply spend time in a comfortable neighbourhood space.

Downtown Coffee shares its home with The Spirited Spot (TSS), creating a space that moves naturally from coffee and breakfast during the day to cocktails, food and music in the evening.

We are looking for a Café Manager who can take complete ownership of the day-to-day Downtown Coffee experience.

ROLE The Café Manager will be responsible for managing the entire café operation — coffee quality, food service, team performance, guest experience, inventory, cleanliness and daily sales.

This is a hands-on position. We need someone who is comfortable being on the floor, interacting with guests, supporting the baristas and ensuring consistent standards every day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage complete day-to-day café operations.
- Lead and supervise Baristas, Captains and café service staff.
- Ensure consistent quality of every coffee and beverage served.
- Maintain standards for espresso extraction, milk texture, presentation and beverage recipes.
- Ensure smooth breakfast and all-day café service.




- Conduct daily opening briefings and allocate responsibilities.
- Monitor guest service, table management and speed of service.
- Build relationships with regular guests and create a strong neighbourhood café community.
- Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally.
- Train the team on coffee, food, service and product knowledge.
- Coordinate closely with the kitchen for breakfast and café food operations.
- Monitor coffee beans, milk, syrups, packaging and other café inventory.
- Control wastage and maintain proper stock levels.
- Monitor daily sales and encourage smart upselling.
- Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, grooming and café SOPs.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and report technical issues immediately.
- Coordinate with marketing for café promotions, launches and content.
- Support takeaway and delivery operations.

COFFEE KNOWLEDGE The Café Manager should have a strong understanding of:

- Espresso and espresso-based beverages
- Coffee beans and roast profiles
- Grinder calibration
- Espresso extraction
- Milk steaming and texturing
- Manual brewing basics
- Cold coffee and iced beverages
- Beverage recipe consistency
- Coffee equipment care and cleaning





The Café Manager does not need to spend the entire day behind the machine, but should be capable of checking quality, identifying problems and guiding the barista team. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The candidate should have:

- Previous experience as a Café Manager / Assistant Café Manager / Head Barista / Senior Barista with leadership experience.
- Experience working with a premium café or speciality coffee brand is strongly preferred.
- Hotel Management qualification will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge and genuine interest in coffee.
- Experience handling breakfast and all-day café operations.
- Strong team-management and training skills.
- Valuable understanding of inventory, wastage and cost control.
- Strong communication and guest-handling skills.
- Good command of English and Hindi.
- Excellent grooming and professional presentation.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the café.

THE DOWNTOWN COFFEE MANAGER We are not looking for someone who simply opens the café, manages shifts and closes the counter.

We need someone who cares about how the espresso tastes, how the breakfast reaches the table, how the café looks at 7 AM and how a regular guest feels when they walk through the door.

The goal is to make Downtown Coffee a place people don’t visit just once.

We want to become their neighbourhood coffee spot.
