Position: Lead CAD Design Engineer

Experience: 8+ Years

Ctc Range- upto 15 lpa (depends on interview)

Reporting To: Project Manager / Head PMO

Job Purpose The Lead CAD Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the CAD design function for electrical, automation, substation, and condition-based monitoring projects. The role involves overseeing the preparation and review of engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards, mentoring a team of CAD Engineers, and driving timely project execution while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

- Lead the CAD design team in preparing and reviewing engineering drawings using AutoCAD and related design tools.
- Develop and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) Drawings, Control Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Panel Layouts, Cable Schedules, Termination Drawings, Interconnection Drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Ensure all engineering drawings comply with project specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Review technical deliverables before submission to ensure accuracy and quality.

Project Execution

- Plan and allocate design activities across multiple projects while ensuring adherence to project schedules.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Procurement, Manufacturing, Commissioning, and Site Engineers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor drawing progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to meet project timelines.




- Support project execution through technical documentation, material take-offs, procurement support, and commissioning assistance.

Team Leadership & People Management

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of CAD Engineers.
- Allocate work based on project priorities and team capabilities.
- Conduct regular design reviews and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Train and upskill junior engineers on AutoCAD standards, drawing practices, and engineering documentation.
- Foster a cooperative, accountable, and high-performance team environment.

Quality & Documentation

- Ensure effective drawing revision control and maintain engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and approve final "As-Built" drawings before project handover.
- Drive continuous improvement in CAD standards, templates, and design processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures and customer documentation requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Engineering, Projects, Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in customer meetings whenever required to provide technical inputs related to design and documentation.
- Support engineering change management and ensure timely implementation of revisions.

Required Skills

- AutoCAD (Mandatory)
- AutoCAD Electrical (Mandatory)




- EPLAN (Preferred)
- Microsoft Visio
- MS Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of SCADA, PLC, RTU, Substation Automation, and Condition-Based Monitoring Systems.
- Thorough understanding of Electrical Panels, Protection Systems, and Substation Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of engineering documentation, BOM preparation, and revision control.
- Excellent planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
