ABOUT DOWNTOWN COFFEE

Downtown Coffee is a contemporary neighbourhood café in Baner, Pune, built around positive coffee, great breakfast, fresh food and easy everyday hospitality.

Our coffee menu covers everything from a well-made Espresso, Cortado and Flat White to iced coffees and our own signature beverages.

Downtown Coffee shares its home with The Spirited Spot (TSS), creating a space that moves naturally from coffee and breakfast during the day to cocktails, food and music in the evening.

We are looking for Baristas who genuinely enjoy coffee and hospitality.

ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Barista who understands that making good coffee is about much more than pressing a button on a machine.

The Barista will be responsible for preparing consistently good coffee, maintaining the coffee station and creating a warm and friendly experience for every guest.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare and serve all hot and iced coffee beverages according to standard recipes.
- Maintain consistency in every cup served.
- Dial in espresso and adjust the grinder when required.
- Monitor espresso extraction, dose, yield and timing.
- Steam and texture milk correctly for different beverages.
- Prepare Espresso, Americano, Cortado, Flat White, Cappuccino, Latte, Mocha and other café beverages.
- Prepare Downtown Coffee signature beverages accurately.
- Maintain proper presentation and basic latte-art standards.
- Understand different coffee beans and roast profiles.
- Explain coffee choices to guests in simple and friendly language.
- Recommend beverages according to guest preferences.
- Maintain proper coffee-bar mise-en-place throughout the day.
- Keep the espresso machine, grinder and coffee station clean and organised.
- Follow correct opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor milk, coffee beans and other beverage ingredients.




- Follow FIFO and correct storage procedures.
- Minimise wastage while maintaining quality.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and service team during busy breakfast and café hours.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, grooming and cleanliness.

COFFEE KNOWLEDGE The candidate should have a good working understanding of: Espresso Extraction · Grinder Calibration · Milk Texturing · Coffee Beans · Roast Profiles · Espresso-Based Beverages · Iced Coffee · Basic Brewing Methods · Latte Art · Equipment Cleaning & Maintenance

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The candidate should have:

- Previous professional experience as a Barista.
- Experience with a speciality coffee or premium café brand is strongly preferred.
- Good practical knowledge of espresso-based beverages.
- Ability to dial in and calibrate a coffee grinder.
- Good milk-steaming and texturing skills.
- Basic latte-art skills.
- Strong attention to consistency and presentation.
- Good communication and guest-interaction skills.
- Good personal grooming and hygiene.
- Ability to work quickly during busy breakfast and café hours.
- Positive attitude and willingness to continuously learn about coffee.

WHAT WE DON’T WANT We are not looking for someone who simply knows how to operate an espresso machine.

A Downtown Barista should understand why an espresso is running too fast, why the milk texture is wrong, why one cup tastes different from another — and know how to correct it.

THE DOWNTOWN BARISTA A guest may spend only a few minutes with us while picking up their morning coffee.

But that one cup can decide whether they come back tomorrow.

We want Baristas who care about the grind, the extraction, the milk, the presentation and the person standing on the other side of the counter.

Because our goal is not just to serve coffee.

It’s to become someone’s everyday coffee place.
