Civil Site Engineer – Solar EPC
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra
Employment Type: Full time
Salary: ₹30,000 – ₹35,000 per month
Industry: Solar EPC / Renewable Energy / Construction
About the Role
BRIVIN Solar is building a centrally managed Solar EPC business focused initially on residential and commercial rooftop solar installations across Maharashtra.
We are looking for a Civil Site Engineer – Solar EPC who will be responsible for site assessment, rooftop evaluation, civil and structural coordination, and on-site execution support for solar projects.
The role will act as an important link between the actual site conditions and the Solar Design & Technical team. The engineer should be capable of assessing rooftops, taking accurate measurements, identifying structural and civil constraints, and providing the technical site information required to develop safe and practical solar system designs.
The role will also supervise installation activities and ensure that work executed on-site follows approved drawings, quality standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Rooftop & Site Assessment
- Conduct detailed site surveys for residential and commercial Solar PV projects.
- Measure available rooftop area, dimensions, levels, access points and surrounding obstructions.
- Assess roof type, condition and practical suitability for Solar PV installation.
- Identify shading, drainage, waterproofing, access and other civil constraints.
- Document existing structural elements such as columns, beams, slabs and roof structures.
- Capture accurate measurements, photographs and site observations for the design team.
- Prepare structured site survey and feasibility reports.
2. Civil & Structural Evaluation
- Review available architectural and structural drawings of project sites.
- Assess the rooftop from a civil/structural perspective for proposed solar installations.
- Understand proposed module layout and mounting structure requirements in relation to existing building conditions.
- Identify suitable locations and methods for mounting structures, foundations, supports and anchoring.
- Evaluate basic structural considerations related to additional solar installation loads.
- Identify sites requiring further structural analysis or certification by a specialized structural consultant.
- Coordinate with external structural engineers when detailed structural calculations or certification are required.
3. Design Coordination
- Work closely with the Solar Design & Technical Engineer before finalization of the solar layout.
- Provide accurate site measurements, structural information and civil constraints required for system design.
- Review proposed module layouts from a practical site-execution perspective.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
- Recommend practical modifications where required before execution begins.
- Ensure the final design can be safely and practically implemented at the site.
4. Installation & Site Supervision
- Supervise solar installation activities at project sites.
- Coordinate installers, fabricators, electricians, contractors and other site manpower.
- Ensure mounting structures and modules are installed according to approved drawings.
- Monitor civil works, fabrication, anchoring and structural installation activities.
- Ensure proper workmanship and adherence to approved project specifications.
- Track daily site progress and highlight delays, deviations or execution issues.
- Coordinate with the EPC Operations & Project Coordinator regarding project progress and site requirements.
5. Quality & Safety
- Conduct quality checks during different stages of project execution.
- Verify mounting structure alignment, anchoring, workmanship and overall installation quality.
- Ensure installation activities do not unnecessarily damage the existing roof or building structure.
- Monitor waterproofing and civil finishing around installation areas.
- Ensure contractors and installation teams follow required site-safety practices.
- Maintain site quality and inspection checklists.
- Report defects or deviations and ensure corrective work is completed before handover.
6. Documentation & Project Handover
- Maintain site survey reports, measurements, photographs and execution records.
- Document changes between approved drawings and actual site execution.
- Maintain project-wise site progress and inspection reports.
- Support final site inspection and project handover.
- Ensure civil and structural observations are properly documented for future reference.
Candidate Profile
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Prior site engineering, construction, structural, rooftop or Solar EPC experience is preferred.
- Good understanding of RCC structures, slabs, beams, columns, foundations and basic structural concepts.
- Ability to read architectural, civil and structural drawings.
- Comfortable taking accurate site measurements and preparing site reports.
- Understanding of structural loads and mounting/foundation requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and STAAD.Pro, and similar drawing software is an advantage.
- Solar rooftop installation experience is preferred but not mandatory for a technically strong civil engineer.
- Strong observation, coordination and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable supervising contractors and on-site manpower.
- Willing to travel to project sites across Maharashtra as required.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines civil engineering knowledge with practical on-site execution ability.
The person should be capable of visiting a rooftop and answering questions such as:
- Is the available rooftop practically suitable for the proposed solar installation
- What structural and civil constraints need to be considered
- Where are the major beams, columns and load-transfer points
- What mounting or foundation approach appears suitable
- Are there waterproofing, drainage or access concerns
- Does the proposed solar layout make practical sense on the actual site
- Does the building require further assessment by a structural specialist
The objective is to ensure that the Solar Design team receives reliable site and structural inputs before the system is finalized, reducing redesigns and execution problems later.
Growth Opportunity
This role will be part of the early execution team building BRIVIN Solar's EPC capabilities.
As project volumes increase, the role can develop into broader responsibility across Site Engineering, Civil & Structural Coordination, Quality Control and Regional Solar Project Execution.
