About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Prior Authorization Specialist / Assistant Team Lead / Team Lead located in Chennai to drive our U.S. Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) operations. This role demands deep expertise in prior authorization nuances, strong leadership capabilities, and exceptional communication skills to manage insurance payer interactions and guide team performance effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Prior Authorization & Payer Management:

Oversee and manage the end-to-end prior authorization process for medical procedures, specialty medications, and diagnostic tests across major U.S. insurance payers.

Resolve complex authorization denials, peer-to-peer review scheduling, urgent retro-authorizations, and payer escalation workflows.

Stay current with evolving payer guidelines, CPT/ICD-10 codes, medical necessity criteria, and state/federal healthcare regulations.

Team Leadership & Operations:

Lead, mentor, and monitor daily workflows for the prior authorization team in a remote work environment.

Conduct quality audits,



track key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure strict turnaround time (TAT) compliance.

Train onboarding staff on authorization nuances, payer portals, and workflow tools.

Communication & Collaboration:

Serve as the primary point of contact for provider practices, clinics, and insurance representatives.

Deliver clear written and oral communications to resolve patient coverage barriers efficiently.

Key Requirements

Experience: Minimum 3+ years of core U.S. Healthcare Prior Authorization experience (RCM domain).

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills are mandatory.

Domain Knowledge: Advanced mastery of authorization nuances, insurance portals (Availity, CoverMyMeds, Navinet, etc.), and payer policies (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).

Location: Must be based in Chennai (Work from Home setup ready with reliable internet connection).

Leadership Skills: Proven track record in handling complex escalations and mentoring junior team members.
