Job Summary
n
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Commerce & Accountancy will be responsible for providing strong subject expertise in Commerce and Accountancy and supporting the development, review, and enhancement of curriculum and academic content.
n
The role will focus particularly on Accountancy, along with Commerce-related subjects, and will involve curriculum planning, content development, assessment design, academic quality assurance, and providing subject-specific support to teachers. The SME will ensure that all learning resources are accurate, curriculum-aligned, age-appropriate, and designed to develop students' conceptual understanding and application skills.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Develop, review, and enhance curriculum content for Commerce and Accountancy in alignment with the school's academic framework.
n
- Take primary responsibility for Accountancy content, ensuring strong conceptual accuracy and appropriate progression of topics.
n
- Develop lesson plans, worksheets, presentations, study materials, case studies, activities, assignments, and other academic resources.
n
- Create engaging and application-oriented learning resources that encourage analytical and financial thinking.
n
- Develop and review content covering areas such as:
n
- Basic Accounting Principles and Concepts
n
- Journal, Ledger and Trial Balance
n
- Depreciation and Adjustments
n
- Financial Statements
n
- Partnership Accounts
n
- Company Accounts
n
- Cash Flow Statements
n
- Accounting Ratios
n
- Financial Analysis
n
- Business Studies and Commerce concepts
n
- Economics-related concepts, where applicable
n
- Develop differentiated learning resources according to students' learning levels and abilities.
n
- Design formative and summative assessments, question papers, question banks, assignments, projects, and competency-based questions.
n
- Prepare answer keys, marking schemes, rubrics, and assessment guidelines.
n
- Ensure questions and assessments test conceptual understanding, application, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
n
- Review and quality-check academic content for factual, conceptual, grammatical, and numerical accuracy.
n
- Audit existing curriculum resources and recommend improvements wherever required.
n
- Support the development of curriculum maps, scope and sequence, learning outcomes, and assessment plans.
n
- Collaborate with teachers and academic leaders to identify learning gaps and develop appropriate academic interventions.
n
- Provide subject-specific guidance and academic support to Commerce and Accountancy teachers.
n
- Conduct workshops, training sessions, and academic orientation programmes for teachers when required.
n
- Review textbooks, reference materials, digital resources, and supplementary learning content.
n
- Ensure appropriate integration of real-world examples, business scenarios, financial literacy, and current developments in Commerce and Accountancy.
n
- Stay updated with changes in curriculum frameworks, examination patterns, teaching methodologies, and subject-specific developments.
n
- Support innovative and technology-enabled approaches to teaching Commerce and Accountancy.
n
- Maintain proper documentation and version control of curriculum and academic resources.
n
- Work closely with the Curriculum and Academic teams to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
n
- Undertake any other academic responsibilities assigned by the reporting authority.

Qualifications
n
n
- Master's Degree in Commerce / Accountancy / Finance / Economics or a related discipline.
n
- B.Ed. is preferred.
n
- CA / CMA / CS qualification or skilled accounting certification will be an added advantage.
n
- Strong academic background in Accountancy is essential.
n
- Excellent written and spoken English.
n
- Knowledge of CBSE / ISC / IB curriculum will be an advantage.
n

Experience
n
n
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in teaching Commerce / Accountancy, curriculum development, academic content development, or a similar role.
n
- Strong experience teaching Accountancy at the senior secondary level is preferred.
n
- Experience in developing curriculum, assessments, question banks, and academic resources.
n
- Prior experience as a Senior Accountancy Teacher, Commerce Coordinator, Subject Matter Expert, Curriculum Developer, or Academic Content Developer will be preferred.
n
- Experience working with academic and curriculum teams is desirable.
