Job Summary

n

We are looking for a Backup Engineer with hands-on experience in Veritas NetBackup to support, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise backup and storage environments.

n

The role includes backup monitoring, incident management, restore operations, troubleshooting, backup configuration, and coordination with infrastructure teams in a 24x7 production environment.

n

Immediate joiners are preferred.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Monitor and manage daily backup operations using Veritas NetBackup.
n
- Troubleshoot backup failures, alerts, media, agent, storage, and network-related issues.
n
- Execute file-level, VM-level, and application-level restore requests.
n
- Manage backup policies, schedules, retention, and storage utilization.
n
- Support disk-based and tape-based backup environments, including VTL/LTO.
n
- Handle incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
n
- Perform RCA for recurring and critical backup issues.
n
- Coordinate with Storage, OS, Database, Network, and Application teams.
n
- Support backup upgrades, patching, migrations, and DR activities.
n
- Maintain SOPs,



operational documentation, and knowledge articles.
n
- Support ITIL-based Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
n
- Provide guidance to junior team members and support operational handovers.
n

Required Skills & Experience

n

n
- 3–6 years of experience in Backup/Storage or IT Infrastructure support.
n
- Hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup.
n
- Good understanding of backup and recovery concepts.
n
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
n
- Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage technologies.
n
- Exposure to VMware/Hyper-V environments.
n
- Experience with monitoring and ITSM/ticketing tools such as ServiceNow.
n
- Valuable troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
n

Good to Have

n

n
- Experience with tape libraries, VTL, and deduplication.
n
- Exposure to AWS/Azure backup environments.
n
- Basic Shell/PowerShell scripting knowledge.
n
- Knowledge of Oracle, SQL, SAP, or application backups.
n
- ITIL Foundation certification.
n
