About the Project:

The project involves piloting various AI-enabled EdTech applications in government schools to strengthen assessment-informed instruction for Hindi and Mathematics for Grades K–5.

The applications are designed to support assessment administration, generate student-level assessment data, mentor teachers in implementing assessment-informed instruction, and enable mentors to derive actionable classroom insights. This work is being jointly undertaken with Central Square Foundation (CSF) as part of the Shiksha Next EdTech Accelerator, managed by CSF.

The Field Officer will play a critical role in understanding how the applications perform in real-world school settings, how easily teachers and mentors can use them, and what improvements may be needed before wider adoption. The role will involve supporting field implementation, documenting user experiences and implementation insights, identifying technical and usability challenges, and contributing to iterative application improvements.

Position Summary The Field Officer will lead end-to-end field implementation and document the school-based pilots.

The role will involve regular visits to pilot schools to implement the application firsthand, support teachers and mentors in using it, observe and document the process, identify technical and administrative issues, and collect evidence on the usability and effectiveness of the Edtech solution compared with the existing/manual process.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently with Edtech solutions in schools, interacting with teachers and school stakeholders, collecting structured and qualitative evidence, identifying patterns from field observations, and translating these observations into clear recommendations to improve the product and pilot design.

- Ensure the application is used with fidelity, following prescribed protocols and quality standards.

2. Teacher Mentoring and Capacity Building

- Train and mentor teachers to independently and confidently use the application in their classrooms.
- Provide on-site handholding support and troubleshooting.
- Build teachers' comfort and buy-in for the Ed-tech solution as part of regular classroom practice.

3. Evidence and Insight Generation

- Collect qualitative evidence, anecdotes, and short case studies on how the application is being used in schools.

- Capture comparative insights on the value-add of the application relative to existing/manual methods.

4. Issue Identification and Product Feedback

- Identify bugs, technical glitches, or administrative challenges encountered while using the application.
- Recommend customisations or modifications based on field feedback, working closely with the product/technical team.

5. Data Management and Documentation

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of school visits, teacher and mentor usage, assessments conducted, and teacher feedback, etc.
- Document the pilot end-to-end, including methodology, challenges, key learnings, and recommendations.
- Prepare structured reports and presentations summarising field data and inferences for internal and external stakeholders.
