Position Summary

The Electrical Designer will be responsible for creating drawings for panels and enclosures, facility wiring drawings, create electrical bill of material, specify and order electrical parts and work with engineering and technicians to ensure design and fabrication are according to company’s needs.

Description / Requirements
Develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering and construction installation drawings.
Consult with lead engineers and review project shop drawings for design accuracy.
Develop conceptual or detailed electrical designs in power distribution, lighting, low voltage systems instrumentation, and controls for a variety of industries.
Develop control panel drawings consisting of PLC panel layouts and I/O schematics.
Electrical design deliverables include electrical one lines, power and lighting plans, electrical site plans, area classification plans, & grounding plans.
Develop drawings using AutoCAD.
Analyze mechanical and process designs by reviewing P&IDs; & general arrangement drawings.




Comply with Company’s Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Ability to perform voltage drop calculations.
Ability to route conduit and cable tray, ability to calculate tray and conduit fill.
Ability to determine motor control center loading.
Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.
Ability to determine load center unit substation loading.
Knowledge and understanding of work flow/information flow between disciplines.
Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables.
Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
