Role Title:Chief India Economist

Location:Mumbai, India

What will you be doing:
Provide comprehensive research to institutional investors, sales and traders in Barclays on the India economy, politics and financial markets

Key Accountabilities
Produce timely reports both ahead of and in response to data. Complement these with thematic, and longer shelf-life product
The product suite includes a weekly, more frequent ad-hoc pieces, plus contributions to other regular publications like the Global Economics Weekly and the Global Outlook
The applicant will play a central role within the team, in particular working very closely with, and feeding into, our Macro Research function regionally and globally

What we’re looking for:
Broad knowledge of macroeconomic and econometric theory.
Broad knowledge of Indian (and regional) fiscal and monetary policy.
Broad knowledge of Indian politics
Ability to undertake analysis and write reports / presentations

Skills that will help you in your role:
Considerable years in economic forecasting; solid educational background in economics.
Post-graduate degree in Economics
Proficient in Microsoft Office - particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
