School Librarian

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and organized Librarian to manage the school library and support students and teachers in accessing books, learning resources, and educational materials. The ideal candidate should encourage reading habits and create a welcoming learning workplace.

Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the school library and its resources.
Organize, classify, and catalogue books and other learning materials.
Issue and receive books while maintaining accurate library records.
Assist students and teachers in finding appropriate books and reference materials.
Encourage students to develop regular reading and research habits.
Maintain records of new books, damaged books, and missing resources.
Ensure the library remains clean, organized, quiet, and student-friendly.
Recommend current books and educational resources based on student and teacher needs.
Conduct library activities,



reading programs, and book-related events.
Ensure proper care and secure handling of library resources.
Use library management software or digital resources where applicable.
Coordinate with school management and teachers regarding library requirements.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science (B.Lib / M.Lib or equivalent).
Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with library management systems.
Previous school library experience is preferred.

Required Skills
Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of library classification and cataloguing.
Friendly, patient, and student-oriented approach.
Ability to manage library resources efficiently.
