Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Rotomation Artist role based at PixStone Images’ Chennai studio.

The Rotomation

Artist will create accurate character and object rotations and animations that match live-action plates, working closely with the matchmove and animation teams. Day-to-day tasks include building and refining rigs, matching camera and object movement, maintaining clean and organized scenes, and ensuring precise integration of CG elements with filmed footage. The role involves collaborating with supervisors and other VFX departments, meeting production timelines,



and following established workflows and quality standards.

The Rotomation

Artist will also contribute to troubleshooting technical issues and optimizing processes for effective project delivery.

Qualifications
Robust proficiency in rotomation and matchmove techniques, including character and object tracking in live-action plates.
Hands-on experience with industry-standard 3D/VFX tools (e.g., Maya, Nuke, or similar software used for rotomation and compositing).
Solid understanding of animation principles, rigging basics, and camera/lens concepts such as focal length, distortion, and perspective.
Ability to interpret storyboards and shot requirements, with strong attention to detail and a focus on realistic motion and alignment.
Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with roto, paint, compositing, and CG teams in a production workplace.
Capability to manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced studio setting.
Relevant VFX or animation diploma/degree or equivalent professional experience in feature film, series, or commercial projects.
TPN-compliant workflow familiarity and prior experience in a high-security, studio-level VFX pipeline are advantageous.
