JOB DESCRIPTION Fashion/Textile Designer –

Kidswear/Girls wear/Women's wear | Tiny Twills Position Fashion Designer – Kidswear/Girls wear/Women's wear Company Tiny Twills Location Surat, Gujarat Experience 3–6 years in kidswear/women fashion designer, preferably with strong knowledge of garment embellishment and product development.

Role Overview Tiny Twills is looking for a creative and technically strong Fashion Designer with an exceptional eye for embroidery, appliqué, handwork, prints, fabric combinations and colour coordination. The designer will be responsible for developing commercially viable kidswear collections from concept to final production, ensuring every design reflects the brand's aesthetic, quality standards and target customer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Collection Development - Develop seasonal collections for kidswear based on trends, market requirements and Tiny Twills' design identity. - Create mood boards, colour stories, themes and collection concepts. - Develop original styles, silhouettes, surface treatments and garment details. - Translate concepts into commercially viable designs suitable for children's wear. - Work closely with the merchandising, sampling and production teams from concept to final garment.

2. Embroidery Expertise - Strong understanding of different embroidery techniques, including: - Computer embroidery - Chain stitch - Appliqué embroidery - Patch embroidery - Thread embroidery - Sequins, beads and embellishments - 3D and textured embroidery - Mixed-media embroidery - Ability to select the appropriate embroidery technique according to the fabric, garment, age group and price point. - Develop embroidery placements, motifs, artwork and colour combinations. - Coordinate with embroidery vendors and sampling teams to achieve the desired finish.

3. Appliqué & Handwork - Expertise in designing and developing appliqué work, patches and fabric manipulation. - Knowledge of hand embroidery and traditional handwork techniques. - Ability to combine handwork with machine embroidery,



prints and other surface techniques. - Develop unique embellishment concepts that are attractive, durable and comfortable for children.

4. Prints & Surface Design - Strong understanding of print development and print placement. - Ability to combine: - All-over prints - Placement prints - Engineered prints - Floral, animal, abstract and novelty motifs - Embroidery with prints - Appliqué with prints - Develop print concepts that complement embroidery and garment construction rather than competing with them. - Ensure prints are age-appropriate, commercially attractive and aligned with the season's theme.

5. Fabric Combination & Knowledge - Excellent knowledge of different fabrics used in kidswear. - Ability to combine fabrics creatively while maintaining comfort, functionality and visual appeal. - Understanding of fabric behaviour, shrinkage, weight, drape, texture and suitability for embroidery/printing. - Develop interesting combinations such as: - Cotton + denim - Cotton + muslin - Poplin + embroidery - Knits + woven fabrics - Textured fabrics + prints - Lace, trims and decorative fabrics

6. Colour Matching & Colour Stories - Exceptional understanding of colour theory and colour coordination. - Develop seasonal colour palettes and garment-wise colour stories. - Ability to match colours across fabrics, prints, embroidery threads, appliqués, trims and accessories. - Solid understanding of tonal, contrasting, pastel, earthy and statement colour combinations. - Ensure colour palettes are commercially relevant for the kidswear market.

7. Sampling & Product Development - Prepare detailed design sheets, references and artwork for sampling.



- Review first samples and provide corrections for fit, colour, fabric, embroidery, print and finishing. - Work with sampling teams to ensure the final product matches the original design intent. - Participate in fit sessions and garment approval processes. - Identify design issues before production and provide practical solutions.

8. Trend & Market Research - Research international and Indian kidswear trends. - Track emerging trends in colours, prints, embroidery, silhouettes, fabrics and embellishments. - Study competitor collections and market positioning. - Convert trends into original Tiny Twills designs, avoiding direct replication.

Must-Have Skills - Expert-level knowledge of embroidery and surface ornamentation - Strong knowledge of appliqué and handwork - Excellent understanding of print combinations and placement - Strong expertise in fabric combinations - Excellent colour matching and colour-story development - Good understanding of garment construction - Strong fashion illustration and design development skills - Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, preferably with knowledge of CorelDRAW - Ability to create technical/design sheets - Strong understanding of kidswear comfort, safety and functionality - Strong vendor and sampling coordination skills - Excellent attention to detail Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should be more than a sketching-focused designer. They should have a deep understanding of how a design becomes a finished garment and be able to make decisions about fabric, embroidery, appliqué, prints, colours, trims and construction as one integrated design story. The candidate should have a strong product eye, understand commercial viability and be capable of taking a concept from mood board → artwork → sampling → corrections → final approved garment.
