- Insurance Verification: Check patient coverage using payer websites, automated phone menus (IVR), or direct phone calls to insurance providers.
- Benefit Breakdown: Record specific plan details, including co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket maximums.
- System Documentation: Input verified insurance data accurately into the practice management or electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Flag inactive policies, missing referral requirements, or coverage limits and escalate issues when necessary.
