ADVERTISEMENT FOR TEACHING POSITIONS

Nalanda University, an avant – garde International University under the aegis of Ministry

of External Affairs, Government of India invites Application / Expression of interest for

Teaching Faculty from qualified (Doctorate with consistently good academic record) and

meritorious candidates who share their vision with the University.

Indian nationals including Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens

of India (OCIs) and foreign nationals may apply.

Suitable candidates for the post of Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor;

Eligibility Criteria for Overseas and Indian Faculty Aspirants at Nalanda University

1. The Position of Professor (Scale of Pay: USD 30,000-45,000 per Annum)

a) Outstanding academic record preferably with 60% marks or an equivalent

grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed at the Masters’

level preferably with international teaching experience.

b) Ph.D. or post-doctoral research in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.

c) Brilliant teaching record spanning three (03) to seven (07) years as Associate

Professor or equivalent position with substantive experience of guiding doctoral

and post-doctoral research.

d) Actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with preferably

ten (10) publications as books and/or research/policy papers published in peer

reviewed journals of national and international repute.

e) Evidence of Innovative Courses/Teaching Plan/Research (desirable).

2. The Position of Associate Professor (Scale of Pay: USD 20,000-35,000 per Annum)

a) Brilliant academic record preferably with 60% marks or an equivalent grade

in a point scale wherever grading system is followed at the Masters level

preferably with international teaching experience.

b) Ph.D. or post-doctoral research in the allied/relevant discipline.

c) A minimum of Three (03) to Five (05) years of experience in teaching and

research at national and international level with substantive experience of

guiding doctoral research.

d) Actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with preferably

Eight (8) publications as books and/or research/policy papers published in

peer reviewed journals of national and international repute.

e) Evidence of Creative Courses/Teaching Plan/Research (desirable).

3. The Position of Assistant Professor (Scale of Pay: USD 15,000-25,000 per Annum

a) Good academic record with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent grade

in a point scale at the Master’s level in a relevant subject from an Indian or foreign

University.

b) Ph.D. or post-doctoral research in the allied/relevant discipline.

c) Actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum

of Three (3) to Five (5) publications as books and/or research/policy papers

published in peer reviewed journals of national and international repute.

d) Evidence of Innovative Courses/Teaching Plan/Research (desirable).

HOW TO APPLY:

1. Candidates are required to apply online only through the Online Link given at
end of the advertisement. Since the link is based on a Google Form, you are

2. An application fee of Rs. 500/- for each position shall be paid online directly to

3. Candidates shall submit a separate Application Form for each post.

4. Applicants are required to forward the Form Response Receipt (Filled in

Google Fomr) with enclosures of CV along with scanned copies of all relevant

documents, including the following, wherever applicable to

[email protected] (no hard copy accepted) :

 Recent passport-sized photograph and signature;

 Certificates and mark sheets of all examinations including research degrees;

 Proof of teaching, research and professional experience;

 Copies of published research papers and other academic contributions;

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS

1. Incomplete applications, or applications submitted after the prescribed deadline

shall be summarily rejected. No correspondence regarding incomplete or late

applications shall be entertained.

2. The eligibility of candidates shall be determined with reference to the

qualifications, experience, publications and other credentials acquired on or

before the last date prescribed for the submission of applications.

3. Degrees and other qualifications must have been awarded by recognised

universities or institutions of repute. In the case of M.Phil. or Ph.D. degrees

obtained from foreign universities, the University shall determine the

equivalence of such qualifications in accordance with the applicable regulations.

4. The period spent in acquiring an M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. degree shall not be

counted towards teaching or research experience. However, the period of active

service spent pursuing a research degree while simultaneously discharging

teaching responsibilities, without availing any leave, shall be counted as

teaching experience.

5. The prescribed qualifications and experience are the minimum requirements,

and the mere fulfilment of these requirements shall not entitle a candidate to be

called for an interview. Where the number of applications received is large, the

University reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for

further stages of selection based on academic record, qualifications, experience,

publications and overall suitability.

6. The University reserves the right to conduct a written test, seminar,

presentation, interview, or any other assessment process in online mode, offline

mode, or a combination of both modes, as deemed appropriate.

Candidates employed in government departments, autonomous organizations,

public sector undertakings or similar institutions shall either submit their

applications through the proper channel or provide an undertaking to produce

a No Objection Certificate at the time of the interview.

8. Candidates selected for an interview shall be required to produce original

certificates, testimonials and valid photo identification for verification.

9. All communications regarding shortlisting, interviews and final selection shall

be made exclusively through email. Candidates are therefore advised to provide

an active email address and regularly monitor the same.

10. No request for modification, alteration or updating of information submitted in

the application form shall be entertained after the final submission of the

application.

11. The University reserves the right to increase, decrease, withdraw or keep vacant

any of the advertised positions without assigning any reason. The University

may also prepare panels of suitable candidates for future vacancies.

12. The University further reserves the right to nominate or invite applications from

exceptionally qualified candidates, irrespective of whether they have formally

applied against the advertisement.

13. Appointment to any position shall be subject to verification of antecedents,

credentials and original documents. If any information furnished by a candidate

is found to be false, misleading, fabricated or deliberately concealed, the

candidature or appointment shall be cancelled immediately.

14. Candidates shall submit an undertaking confirming that all publications

submitted by them are original and free from plagiarism. Any instance of

plagiarism detected subsequently shall result in the cancellation of candidature

or termination of service, as the case may be.

15. Selected candidates shall be required to execute an employment contract with

the University.

16. Candidates serving in Central Universities, higher educational institutions or

other organisations may be considered for appointment on deputation or lien,

subject to the applicable rules and regulations.

17. The selected candidates shall ordinarily be required to serve at the University's

campus in Rajgir, Nalanda district, Bihar, and should therefore be willing to

relocate accordingly.

18. No travelling allowance (TA) or daily allowance (DA) shall be admissible for

attending interviews or other stages of the selection process unless specifically

notified otherwise.

19. Any corrigendum, clarification, addendum or modification relating to the

advertisement shall be uploaded exclusively on the University website.

20. The University reserves the right to modify, withdraw or cancel any

communication issued to a candidate at any stage of the recruitment process in

the event of any inadvertent error.

21. The decision of the University in all matters relating to eligibility, shortlisting,

selection and appointment shall be final and binding, and no correspondence in

this regard shall be entertained. Any form of canvassing shall lead to the

disqualification of the candidature.

22. In the event of any dispute arising out of the recruitment process, the courts

having jurisdiction in Patna, Bihar, shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
