Job description:

We are looking for a Testing & Commissioning Engineer with hands-on experience in 132kV and 220kV EHV underground cable projects. The role involves carrying out testing, commissioning, fault identification, and cable energization activities while ensuring compliance with project specifications, utility requirements, and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out testing and commissioning of 132kV and 220kV XLPE underground cable systems.
- Perform pre-commissioning checks before cable energization.
- Conduct tests including Insulation Resistance (IR), AC Withstand, Sheath Integrity, Sheath Continuity, Phase Identification, Continuity, Partial Discharge (PD), Tan Delta, and Earth Resistance.
- Verify the installation of cable joints, outdoor/GIS terminations, link boxes, bonding systems, and earthing systems before testing.
- Assist in cable fault identification and support corrective actions and re-testing.
- Review approved drawings, method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and test procedures before carrying out testing.
- Coordinate with cable laying, jointing, substation, QA/QC, and protection teams during testing and commissioning.




- Attend inspections with clients, consultants, and utility authorities and ensure all testing requirements are completed.
- Prepare test reports, commissioning records, punch list closure reports, and handover documents.
- Support cable energization activities and monitor system performance after energization.
- Follow all HSE requirements, permit-to-work procedures, and company safety standards.

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in 132kV/220kV EHV underground cable testing and commissioning.
- Hands-on experience with testing equipment such as OMICRON, Megger, BAUR, HV Test Sets, Tan Delta, Partial Discharge (PD), and Cable Fault Locator.
- Valuable knowledge of XLPE cable systems, cable joints, terminations, link boxes, bonding systems, and earthing.
- Familiarity with IEC standards and utility specifications.
- Experience on DEWA, TAQA Transmission (TRANSCO), SEWA, or Etihad Water & Electricity (FEWA) projects is preferred.
- UAE/GCC experience is an advantage
