Job Description – QA-QC & R&D; Head

Position: QA-QC & R&D; Head

Education: M.Sc. Chemistry / M.Tech / B.Tech Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Industry: Silicate / Inorganic Chemicals / Specialty Chemicals

Key Responsibilities1. QA, QC & R&D; Leadership

- Lead and manage the complete QA, QC and R&D; functions of the organization.
- Establish, implement and maintain quality standards, product specifications, SOPs and testing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications and applicable industry standards.
- Review and continuously improve quality systems, processes and technical documentation.
- Develop, implement and maintain product specifications and product codes as per defined standards and customer requirements.

2. Production & Process Management

- Take responsibility for coordinating and overseeing the Production Department from a technical and quality perspective.
- Work closely with Production to ensure products are manufactured as per approved specifications, formulations and process parameters.
- Monitor production processes from raw material stage to final product, ensuring proper process control at every stage.
- Identify process deviations, conduct technical troubleshooting and implement corrective actions.
- Drive process optimization, yield improvement, productivity enhancement and cost reduction.

3. R&D; Trials & New Product Development

- Lead new product development, formulation improvement and product optimization activities.
- Plan, conduct and monitor R&D; trials from initial formulation to plant-scale trial and final commercialization.
- Handle complete trial activities including sampling, testing, analysis, result evaluation and final approval.
- Maintain complete records and technical data of all R&D; trials, experiments and product development activities.
- Analyze trial results and provide technical recommendations for further improvement.
- Support successful transfer of R&D-developed; products from laboratory scale to commercial production.

4. Sampling, Testing & Data Management

- Establish proper sampling procedures for raw materials, in-process materials, finished products and R&D; trials.
- Ensure accurate laboratory testing, result recording and interpretation.
- Maintain and manage complete technical data from start to end of the process, including raw material data, production parameters, samples, test results, trial reports, deviations and corrective actions.
- Develop systematic databases and documentation for technical and quality-related information.
- Ensure all records are updated, traceable,



properly maintained and readily available for review.

5. Technical Documentation & Project Reports

- Prepare and maintain detailed project reports for R&D;, product development, process improvement and plant trials.
- Maintain project reports in both soft copy and hard copy formats.
- Ensure reports include complete information such as:
- Project objective
- Raw material details
- Formulation/process parameters
- Trial details
- Sampling information
- Laboratory test results
- Data analysis
- Observations
- Problems/deviations
- Corrective actions
- Feedback
- Final conclusions and recommendations
- Maintain proper revision history and ensure documents are regularly reviewed, updated and controlled.

6. Standards, Specifications & Product Codes

- Develop, review and maintain product standards and specifications for all products.
- Regularly review standards based on customer requirements, market requirements, technical feedback and process improvements.
- Collect and evaluate feedback from customers, Sales, Production, QC and Management and incorporate relevant improvements.
- Develop and maintain product codes, specifications and technical documentation as per applicable standards.
- Ensure consistency between product codes, specifications, formulations, test methods and actual production.

7. Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement

- Handle laboratory operations, testing equipment, calibration and quality systems.
- Ensure proper implementation of testing methods and laboratory procedures.
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Drive continuous improvement in quality, process efficiency and product performance.
- Reduce rejection, rework, wastage and customer complaints through effective technical solutions.

8. Customer Complaints & Technical Support

- Handle customer complaints and technical issues related to product quality and performance.
- Conduct detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with Sales and customers for technical discussions, product requirements, specifications and feedback.
- Provide technical support for product-related queries and customer requirements.

9. Audit & Compliance

- Plan, conduct and manage quality audits and technical audits.




- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company quality systems and applicable standards.
- Handle customer technical audits and ensure timely closure of observations and corrective actions.
- Maintain all required quality, technical and laboratory records.

10. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with Production, Sales, Purchase, Dispatch, Stores, Accounts and Management to ensure smooth end-to-end operations.
- Coordinate with Production and other departments for trials, product development, sampling, quality issues and process improvements.
- Ensure effective communication of technical requirements and quality standards across departments.

11. Team Leadership & Development

- Lead, train, guide and develop the QA-QC, R&D; and technical teams.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Develop technical capabilities within the team through training and practical guidance.
- Establish accountability for testing, documentation, reporting and quality performance.

Candidate Profile

- 15+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the Silicate, Inorganic Chemical or Specialty Chemical industry.
- Strong experience in QA, QC, R&D; and Production/Process Management.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Sodium Silicate, Potassium Silicate, Metasilicates and Specialty Silicates.
- Excellent knowledge of chemical testing, product specifications, formulation and process control.
- Proven experience in R&D; trials, sampling, testing, result analysis and product development.
- Experience in plant-scale trials, process troubleshooting and commercialization of new products.
- Robust understanding of technical documentation, project reports, data management and quality systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain product standards, specifications and product codes.
- Strong experience in RCA, CAPA, customer complaints and technical problem-solving.
- Excellent understanding of production processes and ability to coordinate the complete process from raw material → production → sampling → testing → analysis → documentation → final product.
- Strong leadership, team management and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to independently manage the complete technical function including QA, QC, R&D; and Production coordination.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent documentation, reporting and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical, quality and production-related decisions.

Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹120,000.00 per month
