Overview
We are seeking an audit professional to lead the global Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Internal Controls over Financial
Reporting (ICFR) testing program for a global publicly traded organization. The Associate Vice President (AVP) - SOX Audit is responsible for governance, resource planning, execution, results reporting, modernization,
and transformation of financial and information technology (IT) controls testing, serving as a key advisor to
executive leadership on financial reporting risk, regulatory expectations, and emerging technology risks.
How you'll make an impact
Responsibilities:
- Lead the global SOX testing strategy, governance framework, and annual testing plan.
- Develop, and scale a high-performing global SOX testing organization.
- Oversee planning deliverables, testing, deficiency evaluation, and remediation.
- Modernize the SOX testing program through automation, Artificial Intelligence/data analytics,
continuous monitoring, and recommendations for control rationalization.
- Recommend control deficiency remediation options.
- Develop SOX program reporting packages for executive leadership and audit committee stakeholders in
partnership with the Chief Audit Executive – Americas.
- Provide enterprise oversight of IT General Controls and IT Automated Controls testing.
- Act as primary liaison with External Audit and senior leadership.
- Drive a strong global control culture through training, stakeholder engagement, and continuous
improvement.
- Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of financial regulations, required reporting requirements,
and industry/regulator standards.
- Experience operating in global, publicly traded environments
- Knowledge of insurance brokerage business/financial services is preferred
About you
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related
field
- Chartered Accountant Additional qualification or CISA is preferred
Experience ( Career Level Guide):
- 15+ years of relevant experience in SOX, internal audit, controllership, external
audit, or risk advisory in Big 4 or similar audit firms
Skills & Competencies:
- SOX & ICFR Expertise: Deep knowledge of SOX, ICFR, revenue recognition controls,and global regulatory requirements.
- Technology & IT Controls: Strong understanding of IT General Controls and IT
- Automated Controls.
- Leadership & Influence:
Proven ability to lead global teams and influence executives.
- Risk & Compliance Judgment: Strong risk assessment, issue evaluation, and remediation oversight capabilities.
- Transformation Mindset: Experience modernizing control environments using automation, AI/analytics, and shared services.
- Stakeholder Management: Effective collaboration with Finance, Accounting, IT, Internal Audit, and External Audit.
- Strategic Communication: Clear, concise communication of complex control and risk matters to senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with COSO Risk Management standards and implementation.
- Strong presentation, communication and writing skills with ability to present analysis and findings in a cohesive, understandable and actionable format.
