Role

FoodTech Product Owner — Equity-Based Founding Role

We are looking for a FoodTech Product Owner who can take ownership of our food product ecosystem — from identifying opportunities and defining product concepts to R&D;, validation, standardisation, commercialisation and scale.

This is a founding-team opportunity, not a conventional salaried product-management role.

Key Responsibilities

- FoodTech Product Strategy

- Define the FoodTech product roadmap aligned with Kefilo’s NutritionTech vision.

- Identify opportunities in functional foods, personalised nutrition and transformation-focused food products.

- Prioritise products based on customer needs, nutritional value, feasibility and commercial potential.

- Product Development

- Convert concepts into clear product specifications, formulations and development requirements.

- Work closely with Food Scientists, Nutritionists, Data Scientists and Kitchen Operations teams.

- Drive the process from ideation → R&D; → trials → validation → final product.

- Product Standardisation

- Establish standardised recipes, formulations, nutritional specifications, portion sizes and production processes.

- Ensure consistency in taste, nutrition, quality and cost.

- Build systems that can eventually be replicated across locations.

- Commercialisation & Scale

- Evaluate product-market fit, pricing, unit economics and scalability.

- Develop a pipeline of commercially viable food products.





- Identify opportunities for contract manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing and future Dark Factory deployment.

- Support expansion from pilot production to large-scale manufacturing.

- Quality, Safety & Shelf Life

- Coordinate shelf-life testing, packaging, storage and food-safety requirements.

- Work with relevant technical and R&D; partners to validate products.

- Ensure products meet defined quality and nutritional standards.

- Customer & Market Validation

- Understand customer requirements, preferences and transformation needs.

- Use customer feedback, sales data and product performance to improve products.

- Establish product testing and feedback loops before commercialisation.

- Technology & Intelligent Manufacturing

- Identify opportunities to use automation, data, AI, IoT and smart manufacturing in food production.

- Work with technology and kitchen teams to improve productivity, consistency and traceability.

- Contribute to Kefilo’s long-term intelligent food manufacturing ecosystem.

- Product Documentation & Execution

- Maintain product specifications, development records, SOPs and product databases.

- Track product development milestones and ensure timely execution.

- Build systems and processes that can scale beyond individual people.

Ideal Candidate

- Experience in FoodTech, Food Product Development, FMCG, Functional Foods, Nutrition, Food Manufacturing or a related field.





- Strong understanding of the complete food product lifecycle.

- Ability to work across R&D;, nutrition, manufacturing, operations and commercialisation.

- Robust product thinking with an understanding of unit economics and scalability.

- Experience taking products from concept to market is highly preferred.

- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and execution ability.

- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment with ambiguity.

Engagement

- Position: FoodTech Product Owner

- Nature: Equity-Based Founding Role

- Time Commitment: Part-time, approximately 20–25 hours/week

- Location: Remote / Hybrid

- Compensation: Equity-based; no fixed salary at the current stage

- Fixed compensation: Planned after fundraising and revenue stabilisation

- Equity: Based on expertise, responsibility, contribution, commitment and long-term ownership

- Vesting: 5-year vesting for core founding members

What You Will Build

You will help build Kefilo’s FoodTech product engine — a system capable of taking food concepts from idea to validated, standardised, commercially viable and scalable products.

The goal is not simply to develop individual recipes, but to build a repeatable FoodTech product development and commercialisation system that can support Kefilo’s long-term NutritionTech and intelligent manufacturing vision.

This opportunity is best suited for someone who wants to build and own, rather than simply execute assigned product-management tasks.
