Job Summary
OpenGov’s Professional Services (PS) team delivers configurable, scalable solutions to state and local governments using Government App Builder (GAB) — OpenGov’s proprietary low-code/no-code application development platform.
As a Business Application Developer III, you will design, configure, and enhance customer or business specific applications using platform capabilities, configuration, data modeling, workflow automation, and limited scripting.
You will split your time between:
- Designing and configuring business applications using Government App Builder
- Partnering directly with implementation teams and customers to translate business processes into scalable, automated solutions
This role is ideal for a technically solid problem solver who understands data modeling, workflow logic, and business process design — but does not require heavy full-stack engineering in frameworks such as React, NodeJS, or Java. You will play a key role in delivering high-impact solutions that modernize government operations.
Key Responsibilities
Application Configuration & Solution Design
- Partner with customers and implementation teams to understand operational workflows and system requirements.
- Translate business requirements into scalable application designs within Government App Builder.
- Configure entities, forms, fields, validations, permissions, dashboards, and reports.
- Apply structured configuration standards to ensure usability, maintainability, and scalability.
- Participate in validation sessions and backlog refinement to align configuration with scope.
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Design structured data models including entity relationships and cross-table references.
- Apply data modeling best practices including normalization, denormalization trade-offs, and referential integrity.
- Configure field-level validations and data constraints to ensure data quality.
- Support data migrations including field mapping, data transformation, and validation
