As noted by roadmap.sh, standard requirements include Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools Valuable experience in infrastructure as code tools , but this tier demands deep kernel-level tuning, writing custom Kubernetes controllers, and achieving absolute zero-downtime global deployments.
Responsibilities
- Platform Engineering: Design and code custom Kubernetes controllers, mutating admission webhooks, and operators in python, go or Rust.
- Chaos Resilience: Engineer automated chaos engineering frameworks that continuously inject failures into multi-region active-active production topologies.
- Advanced FinOps Compute Optimization: Programmatically optimize micro-architecture CPU pinning, eBPF network routing, and spot-instance arbitrage to slash millions in cloud waste.
- Zero-Trust Security Mesh: Embed immutable security, real-time eBPF runtime auditing,
and automated cryptographic attestation directly into core CI/CD release loops.
Elite Requirements Skills
- Systems Programming: Mastery of Go, Rust, or C++ alongside expert-level Python/Bash for deep systems automation.
- Kernel Networking: Deep understanding of Linux kernel tuning, eBPF (Extended Berkeley Packet Filter), service meshes (Istio/Cilium internals), and BGP routing.
- Distributed Consensus: Real-world intuition for Raft/Paxos algorithms, global database replication lag, and CAP theorem trade-offs at scale.
