Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Assembly & Structural Installation:
- Assemble and anchor Module Mounting Structures (MMS) on RCC roofs, tin/metal sheets, or ground structures as per structural drawings.
- Mount, clamp, and secure solar PV modules with proper torque specifications to prevent panel stress or microcracks.
- Ensure roof water-proofing integrity (chemical anchors, flashings, or grouting) during and after structural fixing.
- Electrical Wiring & BOS Integration:
- Execute DC string cabling from solar modules to combiner boxes/inverters, including neat dressing, UV-resistant cable tying, and conduit routing.
- Terminate MC4 connectors securely using appropriate crimping tools and conduct polarity checks before connection.
- Mount and connect inverters, ACDBs, DCDBs, and LT panels according to Single Line Diagrams (SLD).
- Install earthing systems, including driving chemical earth electrodes, laying copper/GI earthing strips, and connecting surge protection devices (SPD) and lightning arrestors (LA).
- Testing, Commissioning & Quality Assurance:
- Perform pre-commissioning checks: open-circuit voltage ($V_{oc}$), short-circuit current ($I_{sc}$), string continuity, insulation resistance (Megger test), and earth pit resistance.
- Assist the site engineer during system power-on, grid synchronization, and inverter commissioning.
- Label all cables, junction boxes, conduits, and panels according to project standards.
- Preventive Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Inspect existing plants for loose terminations, hot spots, tripped breakers, inverter fault codes, or physical panel damage.
- Perform basic module cleaning assessments, string repairs, and equipment component replacements.
- Health, Safety & Setting (HSE):
- Strictly follow site safety protocols, including mandatory use of PPE (safety harness, helmet, safety shoes, insulated gloves).
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and handle tools and equipment safely at heights.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Wireman trade (Solar PV installer certification from NSDC/SCGJ is an advantage).
- Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in rooftop or ground-mount solar PV installation and electrical wiring.
- Technical Competencies:
- Ability to read basic electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Proficiency in using crimping tools, torque wrenches, multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers.
- Thorough understanding of phase, neutral, earth connections, and AC/DC polarity.
- Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working outdoors and at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs.
- Ability to lift panels and heavy equipment (up to 20–25 kg).
- Willingness to travel to various regional site locations.
