The Role We’re seeking a Senior ERP Systems Engineer (IBM i) to join ou r Applications Support practi ce, embedded onsite with one of our key enterprise clients in th e manufacturing and distribution sect or in Melbourne.This is a hands-on senior ro le focused on th e support, stabilisation, and ongoing operation of legacy ERP platfor ms running o n IBM i / AS4 00, includin g BPCS, ASW, and I BS. You’ll work closely with the client’s Applications team while remaining a Talink employee, providin g technical leadership, strong ownership, and guidan ce across a hybrid onshore/offshore support model. Client & Technology Environment You’ll be working in a complex, mission-critical ERP landscape across Australia and New Zealand, including: BPCS 6 .1 – Manufacturing (core stable with significant custom modules) ASW 3 .5 – Distribution (heavily customised) IBS 6 .1 – Distributiion IBS Integrat or – Middleware & integrations IBM i / AS4 00 platform Technologies : RPG (RPG III / RPGLE / ILE), CL, DB2/400 These systems underpi n core manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution operatio ns and require deep technical understanding and operational maturity.
What You’ll Be Doing ERP Application Support & Operations Provide senior-level support acros s BPCS, ASW, and I BS environments Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across applications, integrations, and batch processes Own BAU operations, system health monitoring, and batch job oversight Act as a senior escalation point for critical and recurring incidents Integration & Interface Support Support integrations vi a IBS Integrat or and custom IBM i interfaces Analyse and resolve interface failures and data inconsistencies Improve stability and reliability of the integration layer Incident, Problem & Change Management Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews Identify recurring issues and contribute to preventative problem management Support safe, controlled change implementation including testing and deployment Documentation & Knowledge Captu reDocument system architecture, custom modules, integrations, and batch process esCreate and maintain run-books, diagnostic guides,
and support documentati onReduce reliance on individual SMEs through structured knowledge capture Collaboration & Leadersh ipWork as a trusted member of the client’s Applications te amProvide technical guidance and task direction to offshore Talink teams in Ind iaDrive effective knowledge transfer across onshore and offshore tea msTak e end-to-end ownersh ip of assigned work Continuous Improveme ntIdentify risks, technical debt, and opportunities to improve system stabili tyContribute to incremental enhancements and operational efficiencies What We’re Looking For ✅ Essential Experience 10 yea rs supporting ERP systems o n IBM i / AS400 Strong hands-on experience with BPCS 6.1ASW (preferably 3. 5) and/o r IBSIBS Integrat or or similar IBM i integration tooling Advanced skills i n RPG (RPG III / RPGLE / ILE), CL, and DB2/400 Proven background i n production support of highly customised legacy systems Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability Experience working i n hybrid onshore/offshore delivery models ⭐ Desirable Exposure t o manufacturing, warehousing, or distributi on environments Experience wit h EDI or file-based integrations Familiarity with IBM i change tools (e.g .
