Job Summary The Business Development &
- Tendering – Government &
- Private Sector role is responsible for driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, managing the complete tendering process, and securing EPC contracts from Government agencies, PSUs, and private sector clients. The role requires expertise in bid management, tender documentation, techno-commercial proposal preparation, client engagement, contract negotiations, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure successful bid submissions and project acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across Government departments, PSUs, utilities, developers, commercial & industrial (C&I;) clients, and institutional customers.
- Generate business leads through market research, networking, industry events, consultants, channel partners, and client interactions.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, Government authorities, consultants, EPC partners, and private clients.
- Develop strategies to increase market penetration and expand the company's order book.
Tendering &
- Bid Management
- Monitor Government and private tender portals for upcoming opportunities.
- Review tender documents, eligibility criteria, technical specifications, commercial terms, and contractual conditions.
- Coordinate with engineering, estimation, procurement, finance, legal, and project teams for preparation of techno-commercial bids.
- Prepare, compile, and submit technical and commercial proposals within specified timelines.
- Manage pre-bid queries, attend pre-bid meetings, and coordinate clarifications with clients.
- Ensure compliance with tender requirements, statutory regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain bid documentation, approvals, bid securities, EMDs, bank guarantees, and related records.
Proposal &
- Contract Management
- Prepare techno-commercial proposals, cost estimates,
and pricing strategies in coordination with internal teams.
- Participate in negotiations with Government agencies, utilities, PSUs, and private clients.
- Review contract terms, identify commercial risks, and coordinate with legal teams before contract finalization.
- Support contract award processes and ensure smooth handover to execution teams.
Market Intelligence &
- Strategy
- Track industry trends, Government policies, renewable energy schemes, and regulatory developments.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing trends, and upcoming project opportunities.
- Identify emerging business models including CAPEX, RESCO, BOOT, OPEX, PPA, and hybrid renewable projects.
- Provide strategic market insights to management for business planning and growth initiatives.
Client Relationship Management
- Develop long-term relationships with Government departments, utilities, consultants, developers, and private sector clients.
- Act as the primary point of contact during bidding, negotiations, and contract finalization.
- Ensure timely communication and effective coordination throughout the business acquisition process.
Internal Coordination &
- Reporting
- Coordinate with engineering, design, procurement, finance, legal, and project execution teams for bid preparation and project transition.
- Maintain bid pipeline, prospect tracker, and tender status reports.
- Prepare periodic MIS reports, bid analysis, success ratios, and business development updates for management.
Required Qualifications &
- Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- MBA or specialization in Marketing, Business Development, or Renewable Energy will be preferred.
Experience
- 15-20 years of experience in Business Development and Tendering within the Solar EPC, Renewable Energy, Power, or Infrastructure sector.
- Proven experience in handling Government tenders, PSU bids, utility-scale solar projects, and private sector EPC opportunities.
- Hands-on experience with GeM, CPP Portal, state utility tenders, SECI, NTPC, NHPC, and other Government procurement platforms will be an added advantage.
- Strong exposure to techno-commercial bid preparation and contract negotiations.
Skills &
- Competencies
- Strong understanding of Solar EPC business, tendering processes, and project lifecycle.
- Knowledge of Government procurement procedures, tender documentation, and contractual terms.
- Excellent business development, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, commercial terms, BOQs, and financial models.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems, CRM platforms, and e-tendering portals.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with multiple concurrent bid submissions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Value of EPC orders secured from Government and Private sector clients.
- Number of successful tenders won and bid success ratio.
- Business pipeline development and conversion rate.
- Timely and compliant submission of techno-commercial bids.
- Client acquisition and relationship management.
- Revenue and profitability achieved against annual business targets.
- Accuracy and quality of tender documentation and proposal submissions
