Tax assistant manager -
You are responsible for the management of yourself and your team of Tax Analysts and Tax Advanced Analysts to ensure client commitments are met with high standards and that your team members meet all required technical quality and utilisation requirements.
The opportunity An exciting opportunity with our Tax Compliance team. Your main objective would be to contribute to global client projects as a part of a global distributed team and support leadership in developing / growing the practice. Drive change management integration with impacted process areas.
Your key responsibilities The client responsibilities involve:
- Develop brief understanding of day-to-day activities and transactions related to tax and tax accounting matters and make sure they are properly addressed.
- Implement Clients engagements from start to finish (Planning, executing, directing and completing project)
- Manage own and/or other’s impact on project economics, including controlling costs, monitoring budget to actual differences.
- Develop, mentor and supervise Analysts and Advanced Analysts.
- Interpreting and complying with state and local statutes, regulations and legislations.
- Proactively resolve tax-related problem and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
- Detailed review of federal, state income and franchise tax, amended returns and supporting work papers.
- Set up the project from start and manage the workflow.
- Manage engagement economics and assist the team in achieving better margins.
- Assist in preparation of responses to various tax audits.
- Recommends tax strategies by researching federal, state and local taxation issues.
- Gain understanding of Client operations, processes and business activities.
- Take ownership of your schedule and proactively seek work when necessary to meet your annual utilization goals.
- Comply with Ernst & Young compliance procedure.
- At least 6 –8 years of professional experience, strong accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP and tax compliance.
- Broad exposure to federal and state income taxation and knowledge of tax regulations
- Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

To qualify for the role you must have
- At least 3 –5 years of professional experience in corporation tax compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in commerce or pursuing Masters Degrees.
- Possess excellent communication skills (both written and spoken)
- Big 4 or professional tax accounting experience is a plus.ributing to a positive team environment by demonstrating consistent commitment and optimism towards work challenges.
- Maintaining focus of team members on work products; holding others accountable for timely completion of high-quality work.
- Showing a sense of urgency in responding to clients and teams needs by responding to all queries/concerns promptly.
- Focusing team members on key quality drivers for work assignments
- Building positive relationships with internal professionals and client personnel by demonstrating integrity and genuineness
- 3-5 years of experience in US state and local taxes, state income and franchise taxes, multistate tax
- Preparation and review of state corporate tax returns pertaining to 1120 and 1120Fs.
- Exposure on tax research tools such as CCH, Checkpoint, BNA and Lexis Nexis
- Robust knowledge on tax technology tools such as Corp Tax, OneSource, Go Systems, Premium-Pro and Wings
