Role Title: Technology Support – polymer science & engineering specialist
Role Purpose: Support new product development of cables in the on-the-ground implementation of initiatives.
Collects and analyses the data collected on the ground to obtain insights
What the role entails (Key Responsibilities)
- Understand the new product requirements and customer expectations and plan development trials with proper data sheets, process sheets, raw materials, tooling (if needed, then design the tooling) and machines
- Drive the material science development of all current innovation with raw material suppliers.
- Material characterization by using in-house facility and external collaboration (FTIR/TGA/DSC/FESEM etc).
- Development of fire rated cables for UL/CE/CPR certification and collaboration with global laboratories for testing and certification.
- Support for production and process engineering teams on material related issues during process.
- Establishing cable extrusion process expertise for FTR.
- Get product approval from the customers including witness testing, if required Preparing product technical documents for customer reference
- Maintain the records of all documents during the product development phases
- Generating new ideas for product design, modification,
and participate in patent filing
- Technical paper preparation and presentation at different symposium
- Working closely with design team and NPD team on new product developments.
- Coordination with SCM / production teams for execution of alternate RM /alternate new RM trials introduction for cost reduction and process standardization.
What we are looking for in you (Skills, Knowledge, Special Attributes, Mobility)
- Hands on experience of polymer material testing, extrusion process and characterization and good understanding of extrusion tool design.
- Hands on with tools like MS Excel, Word and ppt. to analyse the data.
- Polymer compounding expertise (LSZH, PVC & PE)

Experience & Education
Minimum Qualifications & Critical Exposure to Perform the Job at the Optimum Level
Masters/Bachelor’s degree in polymer science / polymer engineering / material science fields.
5+ years of experience in R&D; polymer background/ Process development or materials science knowledge in cable or other industries.
Skilled user of the MS-office, R&D; project execution
Outstanding oral and written communication
Self-sufficient and able to work independently.
