Job Summary

OpenGov builds the software that US cities, counties and state agencies use to budget, procure and serve their communities — and OpenGov India is a core part of the team behind it.

As Tax

Accountant, you'll run India's direct and indirect tax compliance end to end, from monthly TDS and GST filings through the quarterly and annual return cycle and maintain the fixed asset register across our dual-book NetSuite setting. You'll work day to day with the Site Controller, external consultants and the US accounting team, building the kind of clean, documented compliance trail that holds up to statutory, tax and transfer pricing audits. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their post-qualification career who wants real ownership of a complete tax function rather than one slice of it.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and deposit monthly TDS, validating section and rate at the point of invoice booking across the 194 series and Section 195, so the withholding position is correct at source rather than corrected later
- File quarterly eTDS returns (26Q and 27Q) reconciled to the books and Form 27A, issue Forms 16A, and clear TRACES defaults through correction statements
- File GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B within statutory timelines and run the monthly GSTR-2B to books ITC reconciliation, ageing unmatched credit and driving vendor follow-up to closure
- Apply Rule 42 and 43 reversals, Section 17(5) blocked credits and reverse charge on imported services; support LUT filing, zero-rated export treatment and RFD-01 refund claims through departmental follow-through

- Prepare quarterly advance tax computations and the supporting schedules for the corporate return and tax audit, including Section 40(a), 43B and 43B(h) MSME testing and the book profit to taxable income reconciliation
- Compile documentation for cross-border payments — TRC, Form 10F, Forms 15CA and 15CB — and support the Site Controller and external advisors on treaty, transfer pricing and Form 3CEB inputs
- Maintain the fixed asset register in NetSuite FAM under dual-book configuration, running monthly depreciation in both the Indian GAAP and US GAAP books and explaining the book-to-book divergence

Requirements and Preferred Experience

Requirements

- Chartered Accountant qualification, or a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or finance with equivalent work experience
- 2–5 years of post-qualification experience across direct and indirect taxation
- Working knowledge of TDS provisions across the 194 series and Section 195, and of GST compliance including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2B reconciliation and the annual return cycle
- Experience preparing schedules for tax audit, statutory audit and quarterly advance tax
- Hands-on ERP experience and strong Excel skills for reconciliation and high-volume data work
- Comfortable using AI-native tools to accelerate workflows and improve efficiency

Preferred Experience

- Prior experience with a multinational company or a global capability centre
- NetSuite experience
- Exposure to dual-book or multi-GAAP reporting across Indian GAAP and US GAAP
- Software or technology industry background
