Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate NICU Staff Nurse to provide specialised nursing care to newborn and critically ill neonates. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring patients, administering prescribed medications, maintaining NICU protocols and supporting doctors in the management of neonatal emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to neonates admitted in NICU.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature and other clinical parameters.
- Maintain accurate patient records, nursing notes and medication charts.
- Administer medications, IV fluids and injections as prescribed.
- Assist doctors during neonatal emergencies and procedures.
- Handle and monitor incubators, radiant warmers, ventilators and other NICU equipment as trained.
- Maintain proper infection-control and aseptic practices.
- Assist in feeding and nutritional care of neonates as per medical instructions.
- Monitor changes in the baby's condition and immediately report abnormalities to the treating doctor.
- Maintain proper documentation during admission, transfer and discharge.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of NICU equipment.
- Follow hospital policies, nursing protocols and patient-safety standards.
- Communicate professionally with parents/attendants regarding routine care under the direction of the medical team.
- Participate in shift handovers and maintain continuity of patient care.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in NICU / PICU / Neonatal Care Unit will be preferred.
- Experience with ventilators, incubators, radiant warmers and neonatal monitoring equipment is an advantage.
- NRP/BLS certification will be an added advantage.
