Job Summary

Bloomingdale International School is seeking a passionate and experienced Spanish Teacher to teach Spanish across the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).

The ideal candidate will create an engaging and stimulating learning workplace that develops students Spanish language proficiency, cultural awareness, communication skills, and critical thinking abilities, while aligning teaching practices with the IB philosophy.

Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning

Develop and deliver engaging Spanish lessons aligned with the IB curriculum frameworks for PYP, MYP, and DP.

Foster an immersive language-learning environment that develops students listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Use inquiry-based learning, interactive activities, collaborative learning, and differentiated teaching strategies.

Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.

Encourage students to use Spanish confidently in authentic and meaningful contexts.

Assessment & Student Progress

Assess student learning using appropriate formative and summative assessment strategies.

Monitor and document student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

Identify learning gaps and implement appropriate interventions and support strategies.

Prepare students effectively for relevant IB assessments and ensure alignment with programme requirements.

Cultural & Global Awareness

Promote an appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures, traditions, literature, and global perspectives.

Integrate cultural experiences, authentic resources, and real-world contexts into classroom learning.

Encourage students to develop international-mindedness and respect for diverse cultures and perspectives.

Technology & Innovation





Integrate educational technology and digital resources to enhance language learning.

Use interactive tools, multimedia resources, and online platforms to support student engagement.

Explore innovative teaching strategies and resources to create meaningful language-learning experiences.

Collaboration

Collaborate with fellow language teachers and other subject teachers to develop interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning experiences.

Contribute actively to the IB philosophy and the school s academic and co-curricular initiatives.

Participate in department meetings, curriculum planning, school events, and other academic activities.

Professional Development

Participate in professional development programmes and IB workshops as required.

Stay updated with developments in IB language education, pedagogy, assessment practices, and educational technology.

Continuously reflect on and improve teaching practices.

Classroom Management & Student Well-being

Maintain a positive, respectful, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.

Establish clear expectations for student behaviour and participation.

Support students social, emotional, and academic development.

Promote a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to communicate and participate.

Qualifications & Skills Essential

Bachelor s or Master s degree in Spanish, Education, Languages, or a related field.

Strong proficiency in both spoken and written Spanish and English.

Strong knowledge of language teaching methodologies and assessment strategies.

Effective classroom management and student engagement skills.





Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Passion for teaching and commitment to student-centred learning.

Ability to foster global-mindedness and intercultural understanding among students.

Preferred

IB training and experience in teaching Spanish at PYP, MYP, and/or DP levels.

Knowledge of IB curriculum frameworks and assessment practices.

Experience with inquiry-based and concept-based learning approaches.

Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms.

Preferred Experience

2-5 years of teaching experience in Spanish, preferably in an IB school.

Experience teaching across multiple IB programmes such as PYP, MYP, and DP will be an advantage.

Experience integrating technology and digital resources into language instruction.

Experience in interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary learning environments will be an added advantage.
