About The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer specializing in Ruby to join our client’s agile team on a full-time basis. The primary focus of this role is to contribute to the development and evaluation of large language models (LLMs) by building robust datasets and evaluation frameworks that simulate real-world software engineering problems.

The successful candidate will work on creating verifiable tasks from public repository histories, employing synthetic methods with human-in-the-loop processes, and expanding the scope across multiple programming languages and difficulty levels. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software engineering with specific expertise in Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Candidates should have at least three years of professional experience working on complex codebases, demonstrating proficiency in building, modifying, and testing software applications. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up reproducible testing environments are essential.

Knowledge of Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec or Minitest, as well as gem management with Bundler, is required. Candidates with a history of contributing to open-source projects or evaluating open-source repositories will have an added advantage. Strong analytical skills, the ability to understand intricate codebases, and a collaborative mindset are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

- Analyze and triage issues reported in GitHub repositories across trending open-source libraries to identify suitable evaluation scenarios for LLM benchmarking.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including containerization with Docker, to ensure reproducible and reliable testing environments.
- Assess code health by evaluating unit test coverage, quality metrics, and overall robustness of test suites.
- Modify, run, and debug Ruby codebases locally to evaluate the performance of large language models in bug fixing and code completion tasks.




- Collaborate closely with AI researchers to design and select repositories and specific issues that present challenging cases for LLMs, ensuring the datasets are comprehensive and representative.
- Document processes, findings, and improvements to facilitate ongoing development and collaboration within the team.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in AI, software engineering, and open-source communities to continuously enhance evaluation methodologies.
