Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in software development, payment processing, distributed systems, and up-to-date API-driven architectures. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Wire, ACH, and RTP payment systems, along with expertise in REST APIs, microservices, backend processing, and event-driven architectures.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting highly scalable and reliable payment applications that process critical financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable payment processing applications supporting Wire, ACH, and RTP transactions.
- Develop robust backend services using REST APIs and microservices architecture.
- Build distributed systems capable of handling high-volume, concurrent, and mission-critical payment transactions.
- Design applications with strong focus on concurrency, thread safety, fault tolerance, scalability, and reliability.
- Develop backend processing components for transaction validation, routing, processing, status management, and exception handling.
- Implement secure and reliable integrations with internal and external payment systems.
- Work with API Connect (APIC) for API management, integration, routing, security, and enterprise connectivity.
- Develop and integrate event-driven services using messaging or event-streaming technologies.
- Design loosely coupled,



asynchronous components to support scalable payment processing workflows.
- Develop frontend components and user interfaces using Angular, React, or Vue.js where required.
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads using Kubernetes.
- Participate in application design, development, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Troubleshoot complex application, integration, performance, and production issues.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to technical documentation, development standards, and engineering best practices.

Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience in payment systems, preferably Wire, ACH, and RTP.
- Strong hands-on experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and high-volume transaction processing.
- Proven experience with concurrency and thread-safe application design.
- Strong backend development and transaction-processing experience.
- Experience with API Connect (APIC) or similar enterprise API management platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.




- Experience developing or supporting event-driven architectures.
- Good understanding of asynchronous processing, messaging, queues, and event-based integration.
- Experience with at least one modern frontend framework: Angular, React, or Vue.js.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with spec-driven development and contract-first API development.
- Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger and API specifications.
- Knowledge of payment standards and financial transaction processing.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming/messaging platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
- Understanding of payment security, transaction integrity, auditability, and regulatory requirements.
